SX-F black tank

So the tank has arrived and a few parts to make it fit to the exc.

The Tank.

The sx tank stock has reverse fuel connectors, i ordered a male connector for the tank so i wouldnt have to mess with the hose on the throttle body.

The tank with a new fuel connector

So now the fuel tank can connect, i've used tape over the EFI safe hoseclamps.

Next Problem...

If you have a thermo fan installed this will have to be removed.

Next Issue

Electrical Connections dont match up for the fuel pump

Heres, the stock 3 pin exc clear tank connections

2 pins for power and 1 pin for low fuel

This is the sx black tank 2 pin connector

Pretty Simple, just need an adapter....

Did a bit of research and found out that ktm use "AMP superseal connectors"

Ordered a 3 pin female, and a 2 pin male connector

curious as to what the third wire/fuel line does. the SXF only has 2 wires and fuel lines attached to the pump, the EXC has a 3 wire connecter and 3 lines. one feed and one return makes sense, but the third one...

btw, did the sxf tank come with a complete fuel pump assembly? and if yes, wouldn't it have been possible to swap over fuel pumps and base plates to solve the connecter issue with the parts at hand?

Fuel connections

Know i ordered the tank i looked at theses 2 photos from the 350 sx-f and 350 exc spare parts book

350 sx-f

350 exc

the fuel pump has different connections on both tanks, and if you look at the exc connection point, there is no fuel hose connection. The sx-f tank has 2 connections the power and hose at the back of the tank. The exc fuel hose exits the tank at the bottum of the tank.

So back to your original question , I bought a 2011 250 sx-f fuel tank, compete with fuel pump .If you purchase all the parts from Ktm it will cost around about 700$ Australian dollars, I manged to get the tank complete brand new for $350 AUD
shipped. And no you can't transfer the fuel pump over.

The 3rd wire is like a switch it gets a positive from the pump and when the level gets to low the switch closes and the 3 pin gets 12v which powers the low fuel light.
