I have a ducati with a 1080cc hi-comp kit with professionally ported heads, a full termignoni exhaust, dyno tuned, a ton of Ducati Performance parts and a ton of other trinkets that I could go on and on about. All said, there's about 17k wrapped up in it and I'd be lucky to get half that (and I'll sell it for $9000 if anyone is interested?)... But motorcycles aren't like banks... As with my Ducati, there's not that many people interested in a budget bike with Italian wheels (or an expensive bike with a killer engine), especially if they have to drive 8 hours to pick it up. In theory, the bike is worth the 5800 if you can find someone local who wants a DRZ with fancy wheels, but I wasn't offering theories; I was offering cash. By the way, there was a 2007 DRZ with full yosh, and 1800 miles listed on CL for $3900; it sold within a week... Some people like to have it for sale, some people like to sell it... That's the beauty of capitalism.

you can get regular drz's all day for less. But they wont be an sm! So you can go buy a cheaper non sm drz400 and you'll have to put another $1000+ into it just to have spoked 17''s, not bad ass marchesini rims, plus you wont have the usd forks. So i figure for 3900+1000 to have a standard converted sm, i'd rather pay an additional 900 to get better rims and a better/cleaner bike.

It's a very fair deal IMO. And if you don't want it sconley then stop complaining and go else where, leave this man to sell his bike. Your offer got turned down, big deal, you ever been outbid on ebay? stop whining.

And for the record the reason you have so much money tied into your bike but can't get half of it out is because it's a ducati. Everybody knows the cost and maintenance issues with ducatis, who'd want to buy a used one?

Not sure if you read my post regarding the sale of the bike... But let me expalain it to you boy, in a language you might understand... All I did was respond to the seller that I had committed to him (he claimed nobody did), albeit at a slightly lower price. But I did agree the bike is worth the money if you weren't 8 hours away and wanted a DRZ with Italian wheels, and that my long drive is reflected in the offer... That was my communication to the SELLER (not you, or anyone else), there was no whining to him. This is a classified ad and should be restricted to actual buyers and sellers, not dip-sh*ts who feel they just want to chime in and give their "fair market appraisals" and theories as to what a bike is worth, etc. And if I'm whining, I was whining because I have to explain to the bovine, uninformed people of the world (yourself included now, congratulations), that I don't care wtf you would pay "IF" you had the money for it... You don't have the money, because you probably don't work, or if you do, it's for minimum wage, or you cut catalytic converters off cars. So, I would suggest that if you have cash in hand, and think it is worth it, then give him the cash and shut-up... Otherwise, your words (and other non-buyers out there)are totally hollow, and are like a turd falling out of your mouth and into my coffee. Also, IT WAS a Supermoto, not an "S" version you a$$... And after having owned 6 Ducati's, a 750/795ss built to the 2000AMA Daytona winning bike, checking the valves on a Duc is about as difficult for me as it is for you to whipe your a$$... Well, maybe even easier? But I graduated from Purdue in Engineering... So it's easy to understand for me... However, if you educated yourself a little more (instead of regurgitating the mantra of the uninformed) you might find that AIR-COOLED bikes (less maintenance than even a water-cooled 400) that has 100rwhp, and 76 ft-lbs of rear wheel torque and weigh 390lbs dripping wet are worth the 30 minute valve check at 6,000 miles, and a two hour adjustment at 12,000... If your riding skills are up to it, that is. But you probably just take your 30 rwhp DRZ400 in when it breaks, because as your comments have shown: You lack the ability to generate an original thought, which is required to maintain a bike properly.

All that said, to the seller: I'm sorry this thread has taken a harsh turn for the worse, despite being in rare form on your thread, I'm actually a fun guy to drink beers with or to pit near at a track day... And like I said previously, your bike is worth what you are asking, just not to me under the geographic conditions of the sale... I offered what I would be willing to make the drive for. However it's a great deal and would be sold if you were in Fort Wayne. I hope you sell it to someone lucky enough to have both a brain and cash. Unfortunately, the cretins are running amuck not only in the world at large but in your classified ad as well and seem to feel entitled to tell other people how to spend their hard-earned cash.... To them I say, fu. So please understand my frustration isn't with you holding your price (as I said, it's capitalism and it's a beautiful thing... Something else tall boy didn't quite comprehend, but why should that be surprising?)... You'll get your price eventually, I have no doubt, and no hard feelings... But I'm out of patience with the spectators of this thread and will now turn it back over to the cretins, with no brains, and no cash, and no intent on buying anything...
