2007 Aprilia RXV550 Cold Starting issues??

Hello All,

Im currently looking at buying a 2007 Aprilia RXV550 with 7k Miles. The owner is saying it has the black sealant, but he is saying the air/fuel needs adjusted as it often will not start when cold. He said he replaced the starter, and its still having the same issue. He said once it gets running, it runs great, and has not issue started when its warm. I know these things are finicky, but i was curious if anyone knows if this is an easy fix, or if it will be a pain in the butt. I havent actually looked at the bike yet, but from his asking price, $2750, Im hesitant to think that this is an easy fix. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

btw, ive been away from supermotos for almost 8 years (got married, kids, blah blah) so this will be my first since then. Been WAY too long....

Go and read some threads on these bikes until the thought of buying one goes away. (Here, AF1, Google)
You'll find pages and pages on the cold start issue.
There are "fixes" for most of the problems, but seriously, these bikes are for serious enthusiasts who are prepared to spend enormous amounts of time/money to scratch an itch that no other bike can.

Step away from the exotic two cylinder time bomb.
Is the bike stock? Stock exhaust and stock air filter? Cold starts can be help by remapping. Get a hold of Allen Noland with transworld on the east coast. Give him a ring and he can help yuou out to remap it by send him ur ECU if you do not have the special cable to do so. He has helped me out with rebuilding a couple of motors.
I too had a hard cold start issue ~ then I used my floor heater to warm it up . . .

mine will only start if you do it exactly right, either the throttle cables nned to be adjusted exactly right and use the little yellow button , or just put the slightest tension on the throttle to open the plates the slightest amount possible , and that's good advice, don't buy one unless you really know what you are getting into, id sell mine if I got a decent offer on it, track only 07 550
