Hey I'm back ready to throw some more money into the old beast. It's already got all the standard options, I see turbos & super chargers never really took off with these bikes, but if I missed something on that let me know..

Basically I'm looking for more power, it's a street ripper. Ide like to send the head out to get ported / polished / cams / big bore / whatever else till the $2000 budget runs out.

Wheres the best shop for Yamahas & the best parts / options, sorry I'm not expert in this area.

I have a 2008 Wr450 and the most i have gained from it reliably is a hotcam swap, you can achieve close to the same with yz cams but the hotcams come with a little more lift. I had the head cleaned and flow tested and from his advice was that the head flowed great, he just did a slight change to the base of the port and smoothed out the valve guides but that's it. I also did a 13.0-1 comp ratio piston and have been touring miles on it for ages. Cams pushed all the power to about 4500 rpm and up and the high comp piston filled the torque gap down the bottom a bit and i havent wanted to change anything since. I would maybe get a cdi tune from vortex next but i want to get a dyno reading first to see what it would make and see where the air/fuel ration sits. I have heard the bike would make around 52-54 at the back wheel in this state but we'll see. The bike has shocked alot of people on the way it pulls and i've disappeared from quite alot of people on twisty roads. To anyone with this bike i would say give cams a go first as thats the main restriction and go from there. If its any reference the bike wheelies on the back wheel in 4th @100km/h with no clutch (with 14/40 gear ratio)
