Hi, I have a 2007 S610. Recently the indicators stopped working. I traced this to a blown flasher unit and replaced it. First time of checking the indicators the fuse in the starter relay blew. This happened numerous times.

I stripped out the wiring loom and found a seperate lead between the spark plug and starter motor mounting bolt. This wire had partially burnt through its insulation and was probably earthing on the frame. I can't find a similar wire on the wiring diagram.

It looks like this additional wire might be an additional earth line but I'm not sure.

Does anybody have an idea what this additional wire is for (is it stock or an add on) and does anyone have any suggestions as to why the starter relay fuse burn out when the indicator is being used??

Thanks
