07 sm510 charge/gauge issue

ive got a slight issues and i think its possible the stator. the bike has the baja designs HID kit and stator. when running the display flickers and the numbers are only partly visible. when i kick the headlight on it gets a little better. what would cause this? the bike had LED front and rear turn signals w/led brake light. would changing to a regular bulb setup fix this?
