Tuesday Tip: Tightening Brakes...The Easy Way
Posted: Apr 21, 2008
Many of you saw the Race Shop in the May Issue of TransWorld Motocross about correctly bleeding your brakes. If you did, you probably saw a little tip at the end about an easy way to tighten up the front brake with little-to-no effort.
If you didn't, it's quite simple. After you have bled your brakes, or even if you haven't, wrap a zip tie around your grip and front brake lever to compress the lever (for you back brake, weight the pedal or tie it down).
By doing this, you are applying constant pressure to the system and, in turn, any air bubbles flaoting in the lines will slowly make their way to the top of the cylinder. After enough time has passed, your brakes will feel as tight as they did when you picked up the bike from the dealer.
I do not think the screw was tight enough, think of it this way, if you had been braking hard for along time, the may have become sponging and unsafe.
