**It has come to my attention that there seems to be a lot of people (mainly on other sites) that it is VERY clear that they think that my work is junk and "not up to the hype". If you feel what i do in my build(s) is a poor direction please feel free to contact me personally* and i would be happy to talk over my reasoning or thoughts (vise versa) on my builds. But to openly bash my build(s) behind a key board is childish. I do not compare my builds to other bikes/builds. What i do is strictly for me and my satisfaction. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. Like i said before i build bikes for myself and no one else. If you prefer a 450/250 (or any big motor) in a YSR, there a fun project. This is not my first YSR build. Iv had a built XR200 motor in a YSR that did 115 MPH (Recored). I always have more fun building my minis than actually riding them.

There is a 650, 426, 450, 250, 200, (and im sure im missing a bunch more) cc 4 strokes in YSRs. Plus a lot of big CC two strokes. Im a little disappointed that the 450 was not in the final out come, but again its not realistic. It cool to say you have a 250 or 450 in a YSR but the truth is its bragging rights. This bike (72cc) would work a 250/450 powered YSR on a mini track.

I Just picked up a street legal 03 Derbi 50 Supermoto, i have a lead on a 03 WR250F. Will most likely get that transplant. More on that build soon.

Ha Ha, My name is Richard & I'm just average... I think this bike has its fair share of Bling, I see a headlight & Lic. Plate so I don't think the race proven mods were the first plan.... Sweet though.... After reading about the 450 on miniBike forum then you got erased or something, now you are here so I read bothe threads & well, It is kind of a let down after all that was promissed...

So my question is, Why did you not use the Trellis Frame & Motor, what was the major determining factor??? I mean this is a Huge Chage, so I'm just curious what made you switch directions...??????

Build your own bike, I would love to see how it turns out. As for a the light and tag i can assure you this bike is no street queen and would be a competitive bike on the track (even with the "bling" parts). You want to be my first victim? To answer your question, i really was tired of seeing the bike in pieces (knowing that im trying to finish up 3 other SM builds). So i decided that to finish the build the 450 and frame is more work and time than i currently patients for. I still have the frame with intentions of doing something with it one day. Just not any time soon.... maybe a street mini sumo or something. Im glad you guys enjoy the bike.

Sweet, I love YSR hybrids, have an '87 of my own, pondering on what I should do with it. Have the title and actually used to street it quite often before I raced it, it's still in stock class race trim collecting dust.

I have a question, what model rearsets fit the YSR, and where is your rear brake lever tip?

I always looked foreward to the updates, til for whatever reason you were removed from the mini forum, I may have a better understanding of why that happened now... Well if i had to guess your "painterdude". Everywere i go you (or some other guy like you) feels the need to bash me and make assumptions. In all actuality, you could care less about me or my builds. You get off on me getting bent out of shape (which is far from reality). The truth to all of this is you are envious and EVERYONE can clearly see that and you have already been called out. You speak of "constructive criticism is a very helpful tool..." What constructive* criticism or any have you given me. The only thing iv hear from you is your disappointed.... tell ya what, i could care less what you think. As a matter of fact if i stand corrected i can build what ever i want. Whats it to you?

To answer your question once again and S.P.E.L.L it out for you. There is too much time (that i dont have) left in the frame/motor to finish it up. I wanted to be done with the bike and finish up other projects. Its not like i set the frame on fire and its gone forever. It will be done one day. You will be 1st one on the list when its for sale as you care so much about it. And please do us all a favor and go back to PM. If you have a real problem and want to be a real man about it. PM me and ill give you my # (or you can go to my site) so you can tell me in person how you really feel.

Now... Back on track. I will post up pics of the motor and bike fairingless. I just need radiator hoses, install my new carb/filter, wiring harness and a few small odds and ends.

hahaha.... i knew someone would say something. I ordered a new one and i have some Shift-up axel savers (like in the rear) on the way as well.

I eventually am going to take the forks apart and anodize the tubes gold and powder coat the lower legs black to clean it up.

man this is one of the nicest bike i have seen. i was wondering where did you get or make the bracket for the front caliper. i have a yz80 and i got a bermbo caliper i would like to use it on it. please let me know

The master cylinder dose not hit the fairings, or come close for that matter. If it was an issues i could simply loosen the clip-on or rotate the master it self.

"I see alot of crooked stuff". I can assure you i didn't through this bike together. Its fully functional and i took no short cuts at assembly. Looking at the pics, where do you see any crooked parts? Your not going to be another "one of those guys" who join SMJ just to write on this thread an nit pic are you? If so you are REALLY reaching for something.... Please post pics of your bike so we can go through it with a fine tooth comb.

Thanks! First we machined the original caliper mount off. Then we mocked up were the caliper should fit on the rotor then made a template. Then transferred it to aluminum plate. Cut it out on the mill. Then welded it to the leg. Pretty easy and works great.

Whats up big pete. Everything was made to directly swap back and forth with no mods at all, of corse the motors will not swap, but all of the suspension, body work, etc. will with no issues. Who know it might end up on the bike, but not any time soon.

Shawn that is one nice YSR, matter of fact one of the best looking 20 year old YSR's period. Good job! Yeah it may not be a 450, but a running 72cc 2-smoker is faster than any 450 on the bench.

450 motor would have been sweet....but unrealistic. bike is still uber-cool. did you keep the stock steering neck so it can be made street legal? maybe the 2-stroke will grow on you and then we can watch a 125/250 or even a 500 smoker build haha.

I have to agree that a 450 is not realistic. I have followed your build on ysr50.com since day one, and it is one of the best completed ysrs I have ever seen. I am personally glad that you did not use the 450, but do hope that you do eventually use the trellis frame. My goal is to one day have a mini that rivals this on in quality. I hope you enjoy your VERY nice ysr. I do have a couple of questions. 1 how much does this bike weigh? 2 you said that it had th 72cc derbi engine is that the 22hp set up, and have you ridden it yet???

The reason is this thread was posted on Planet Minis, most of them love to hate me. Yes the frame is street legal tagged and registered. The 2 strokes are still not my fav but are very much growing on me.

Thankd BB. You have always supported me and my builds. Thanks. 1)We attempted to weight the bike and we think it weights about 105 LBS. I feel its a pretty light bike. My gut feeling is it may weight a little less than that. 2) The bike has not made it to the dyno... yet. Ill post #s when that happens. 3) No but it will make an appearance / ride at the True Grit Fun Run today in Georgia by a good friend / customer of my .

Ha, look at my pile of crap. All this is to get it running and all I need is a rear sprocket. It has a 93' RM 125 motor in it with a KTM 65 radiator. I need a better place to mount it but this is to get it running.
