Doug was going through Nascar turn one and lost the front end. He slid up the track and somehow got turned around backwards while sliding and impacted the concrete wall and then got hit by his bike. There were hay bales on the wall, but it didn't really do anything to protect Doug. I won't speculate on his injuries, but everyone should say a little prayer tonight.

Not good! Doug's had enough injury to last 3 careers, and beaten it every time. Hoping for the best.

Henry Looking Hopeful 3/5/2007

It was reported last night that Supermoto Champion Doug Henry had a bad practice crash in New Smyrna, Florida where he broke his back and couldn't feel his legs. Henry was taken to a hospital in Daytona where he underwent surgery last night.

Our latest update says that Henry's back was in fact broken, and the fracture was in the same spot he broke it in 1997. The surgery reportedly went well, and Henry now has regained a little bit of feeling in his legs.

My prayers are with you Doug Henry for a complete and speedy recovery. DH has always been a special rider to us "old guys" and if any one will be back it will be Doug.
God Bless you!

Yeah he raced with everyone at Ocala this past Saturday and he was right out there in the thick of things with everyone and seems like a heck of a great guy!!!

I feel soooo badly about him having such an unfortunate accident.....

My thoughts and prayers go out to Doug and his family.
I won't wish for him to come back and be champion again but I will wish for him to come back and be able to live a long and pain free life with his family. Good luck Doug!!!!!

Doug Henry underwent surgery yesterday to relieve pressure from his broken T12 vertebra with doctors calling the surgery a success, according to Yamaha personnel in Florida.

The good news is that Henry suffered no spinal cord injury in his Supermoto practice crash on Sunday and he currently has feeling in the pelvis/hip area, but has yet to regain feeling in his legs.

The T12 injury is just above the area that Henry broke in his famous Budds Creek crash of 1997.

Yamaha reports that the three-time AMA National Motocross Champion and his wife are in good spirits following the surgery.

Not to nit-pick the details in a bad situation, but wasn't the previous broken back from 1995? I remember he was still on a Honda and jumped over McGrath down the hill (McGrath was on Suzuki in 1997). I believe the 1997 injury was the double broken arm from the YZ400 locking up going up a hill at Budds.

Regardless, this sounds like some promising information, and we can all hope for the best. Doug is a great ambasador for our sport, it's a shame he has to deal with so much pain.
