Are the 601's that much better than TT92s? I've got the 85 bug again, gonna do 12's this time to keep the cost down.

Im about 99% sure this wont happen. It seems when the mini world get a demand for the 601s, Bstone USA says there will be stocked in the US.

Heres the problem. The 601 is a "street" tire. We are all aware it is the best race tire for minis. The 601 dose not say "Race Use Only" or have a "DOT" logo or stamp. Which makes it and illegal race or street tire in the USA. We all could case less what it says or doesn't, but Bstone dose have that problem.

So just just stamp on Race Use or DOT right? Yes, but it will cost Bstone a LOT of money to make a new mold to just sell a small amount in the USA. My buddy who works for Bstone says they (Bstone crop USA) will provide a small* amount in the USA but they have been saying this for years and he still thinks its just hype.

I hope this happens as my cost is VERY expensive in the 601's and shipping is a BEAR! If they were to sell them in the US, as JO SHMO they would be cheaper that what i pay from Bstone direct in Japan.

    Just my thoughts and research.

So it sounds like it's probably better to just run the $60 Dunlops and maybe invest in a set of warmers...

    Yeaaaaaa !!!!

I realize that nothing is written in stone .. But can anyone maybe give me a rough estimate on how much faster these things wear out than the 92's ??

If this may help ?? .., Say .., like an expert rider , ride'n at 90% race pace .., do'n 20 min sessions at a local track day , on a not so smooth kart track ..

My humble opinion.... Sava's lasted 1.5 hours in and Endurance race, Bridgestones lasted 3 hours in an Endurance race, TT92's lasted more than 8 hours.

My humble opinion is to pick a weapon for an application.

If I was trying to win a Sprint race, I used the Sava MC31.

If I was trying to win an Endurance race, I used the Bridgestone BT601's.

Now that I ride Minis strictly for fun, I use the TT92's. They last a long time and give predictable feedback. I can not personally go as fast on the TT92 but that is fine for me. Tirewarmers help the TT92's but the durometer tells me that the rubber is harder.

Agreed weapon of choice per track, where your racing at. Every track wears tires differently. Every rider has their "opinion" hopefully based on experience that is replicable. Hence "evidence based knowledge/practice".

I started using the BT601 in late 05, lasted longer than the TT91/92 on the tracks I race on........ on bikes from 8hp-26hp. At least 13 different tracks in 07-08-09.....

The BT601 Lasted just fine even at Palmetto in SC. Granted on a 9hp bike......

I am certain that some tracks EAT tires

I can only imagine that the new tires will be a better mix of compounds....

You guys forgot the other two key factors ,how fast the rider is and how heavy they are.My PERSONAL opinion is with my rider Gavin he used TT92 for almost all season one set and he now has Savas on and they were more expensive but they lasted only about 5 weekends.Yes he is only 12 and only 95 lbs but has the fastest lap time in the 80 class at our track. We are testing a set of Vee Rubber this week other than that we will run the Dunlops not only because we sell them ,because you can win on them and they will be cheeper than the Bridgestones.I'm sure that they will last longer too.The best price I can sell the Dunlops at the track is $150.My two cents.

I KNOW the BT601 lasts as long as the TT92 and gives riders more feedback, higher corner speeds, lower lap-times on the tracks where MIMRA races I'll take them any day and they cost the same as the TT92 or less, TT92's were running less than $150 shipped last month from other sources than MGKT.......... two of our racers bought tires in a panic not knowing if they would have tires............ Both are going to sell off their "new" 92s when they get replacement BT601s. Everyone else up north here is on the fence awaiting the BT601 and then will try the Heidenaus PMT as they will be on a couple of bikes for testing.

You wanna throw in the rider weight, capabilities then have the Same rider same bike, TT92 Vs BT601 on our tracks BT601SS wins every time!! I know I am at EVERY track event here and I run the events......... 2 + cents of experience........

Down South on the SEMRA board since I joined the SEMRA forum I have seen all type and know things can be different but then sometimes things get misconstrued........ Your pavement is different than ours as well as the temps of the pavement etc...

Funny how very little information comes from Texas, California, Oregon, Washington St., and Colorado on this subject?

We need every edge we can get to keep up with you... UH... shall we say "BIG" boys....

I can't afford to try multiple sets of tires. When you boys figure out what works, let us po folk know so we can tag along.

During the summer when the air is +100 and track temps are way higher, we have had great luck with the TT's. I don't know anyone who ran anything else even when they were available... that is, for 12" rubber.

LOL big boys....... you funny to times HA HA

Just passing the word on "not wasting time/money" for those that are inexperienced in the tire situation...... I'm on the short end of funds for racing! Hence I want the "best" tire for my money spent. ala BT601SS, since those were not here I found some Heidenau slicks and paid the same for them as I would the BT601SS. From the very limited bit I have read about them they "should" be as good as the TT92 and most likely better in "my" application. Maybe as good as the BT601?

I remember showing up at a few tracks and EVERYone there heckled me about the BT601s........... heard everything from they won't last more than 2-3 sprints etc..... will never last in an endurance race....... I say dude....... They lasted........ no body ever said anything about them to me after the fact, ironically some of them did spew about how good they were later on, on the internet.........

No doubt the TT92 works well there are just better options........ and when they are here use them to your advantage! They do last longer imo than the TT91..........

I tried the VR because the pocketbike crowd swore by them, I thought they would/should work in 12"......... NOT...........

    Buy what ya like

I'll be buying some BT601 shortly

Being from Calif I can speak for them and you wont really hear much out of them because they don't care much about going on the forums. As for what tire out there they mostly use 17in tires because the tracks are fast and not many riders care to use the 12in tires but the ones that do usually use Dunlops.Every rider has their own preference just as what brand bike he uses as long as it gets the job done its all that maters.

I believe one of the fastest kids in the US...Peter Lenz...far preferred the Bridgestones...and he's from the west coast.

I can't speak to the 92's, but compared to the 91's, the 601's are LIGHTYEARS ahead. We'll be trying out the Heidy's this weekend.

Loved the Stones cause they slid nice and slow, but much more often than the Dunlops. The dunlops give you much less warning but last longer. I'll stick with the Dunlops so I dont have to buy so many tires throughout the season. Love those Stones though. Definitely my favorite. Never tried the Savas.

We run tt 92 for 8-12hr endurances because they last.
But 5hr and under endurance bridgestone 601.
THE 601 is hands down the best mini tire... Plus in the CMRA bridgestone pays contingency for the minis.
