    Default R6 rims ktm fit?

    I wanted to buy a set of 5 spokes R6 rims to fit on my Ktm 450sx...
    Did anyone had anything similar running on their bikes ..?
    Any info good or bad on making this fit please!

    I would think it would be quite expensive. And the rear wheel is too big. They're probably even heavier than the stock wheels.

    Not sure about your bike, or the R6 wheels. It all depends.........on how wide your swing arm/forks are and how wide the Yammi's hubs are.

    I posted what I'm doing to a Honda 600 w/CBR-F3 wheels.
    It'll give you an idea what's instore to do the swap.

    Seems 400cc sport bike wheels are quite narrower, but I think the rim width on those is too narrow.
    Most 600cc streeters have 5" wheels, which a 150/160 tire is maximum width (due to chain clearance).

    Thanks..great work b.t.w. are you getting this done at your expense or is this part of your job?
    Would you say these rims are heavier than spoke rims?

    Not sure about the weight difference.
    I guess I could weigh the mag wheel w/the brake assy, and tire and compare to the XL's rim/hub and brake. The wheel seems quite light, but I wasn't holding it w/the cush drive and sprocket.

    This is at my expense.
    I'll pick up a cheap (or blown up) bike, purchase cheap/salvage/used parts.....and spend a bunch of my personal time making something unique/special.
    I put so much time into my own projects, that I could never sell them for a profit (or to even come close to breaking even). I do it 'cause I enjoy the challenges....and I learn new skills along the way.

    I post info on the forums so people can make decisions on their own projects....I'm always willing to help others and give honest advice, when I can.

    I've done hot rod fabrication for many years.
    I was looking for a change of pace and decided to venture over to modding bikes. They just happen to be pics of my bikes.

    The 600 when I first got it.... It ran really strong, just sat in the weather for many years.
    This is the one that I first vetured into doing my own powdercoating:

    My old Kawa H1 with KZ550 mags, KLR aluminum swing arm and custom chambers.

    and I just finished my CR500 street hooligan.
    I got a CR125 for $500 and planned on a street supermoto (spoke rims).
    I got into it and decided on a hooligan mod (sportbike mags) with a VFR swinger.
    I like the looks of the Honda mags so much, that I'm swapping a set to the 600.

    over a year later, and not quite finished.....it finally suits my personality.

    Not sure how the Harley will fly w/other Harley'ists, but my Honda Sportster will be another odd-ball.
    Another cheap bike that's getting all the ugly taken off. I had spare parts left from the CR500 build, so most of them are going into this one (+ some extra CBR and Sabre parts).

    Other future projects will be a street CR500 steelie and an old Kawa cafe racer clone.

    I could make a mag wheel fit your swing arm.....if I had your swing arm and some measurements.
    Not sure what the expanse would be, but anything is possible.

    Love that single sided swingarm on the cr ...great work on those bikes!
    keep me posted if you ever weigh those rims ..
    I would like to fit the r6 rims on one of my creations ..the are the same look as the cbr600 you put on the xr.

    Never cared for the early 3-spoke wheels. These look so much better sitting still, and rolling down the road.

    The front mag w/brake disc is the same weight as the front rim assembly.

    The rear is a different story.
    The CBR wheel w/cush drive, disc, caliper and caliper bracket is 4 lbs. heavier than the XL's complete pull-off.
    It's a sacrifice, but gaining about a 2" increase in width is worth it to me.

    Basically the front stays the same..
    Does the rear come close in weight to the supermotard rim used in racing?

    Adding a cush drive to a street thumper of big 2-T makes for a better/smoother streeter, but it adds weight in the process.
    A race sumo rim/hub set would be much lighter than even a light-weight MX set up.
    So to answer your question, no...the sport bike rear is much heavier than an MX/sumo rim/spokes/hub.

    I paid $250 for the wheels w/axles and brake discs, and spending some spare time to make it all fit (my time is free).
    Would I pay $1K+ for a light weight, race spec' wheel set? No way. I'm shooting for the ability to run a bigger tire and improvement on looks. So I don't mind if it adds a few pounds to the rear.
    I'm also ditching a steel swing arm, passanger pegs and chain guard/flap and adding an aluminum swinger.

    If I was building a competition only bike, then you bet I'd be nit-picking every ounce and looking to shave weight.
