Hey,any of you guys ride down in the alphabet roads in Wisconsin. If you don't know where that is it's just southeast of the cities. My brother and I ride down there quite a bit. If you know where you are going it's the best riding by far here in our area. That's where I would suggest to go for a all day ripper. Just my two cents !!

DCTC, I put a call into the numbers listed for the track and ended up leaving a message. They used to have the daily rental rate on the website but that is removed so I want to find out what the fee is currently and what is available. It used to be about $2000/day.

Do any of you guys that have been there have a good feel for how many riders is a good number on the track at a time? If we had a group of 15-25 riders would it still make sense to break into a couple groups based on ability level or would it be ok to just have an open track?

I imagine we are looking for a saturday? That works the best for me anyway. I have been at a BIR trackday but never DCTC though.

Who else is doing track days at DCTC this year?

I think your 2000 is a little off. I believe my friend called last year and i more like half that for 8 hours or something, which is more than enough track time for that course. I work for ZARS (Zulusky Advanced Riding School) when I am not riding the trackdays usually, and 15 to 20 is not that many peeps at all for dctc, i remember doing the 30 min sessions last year and I tell ya, it is tiring. there would be many shifts of riders, believe that.

I spoke with the administrator for the track. He is going to fax me the course rules and regulations. I did learn a number of things.

The track is $1500/8 hr day
There must be proof of liability insurance. Your personal policy likely has a line about closed course or off highway use. Most groups obtain a group policy but if we had it covered on an individual basis he thought that would be fine too. Maybe one of you guys on here knows more about obtaining a group liabilty policy?

The weekends are pretty much booked through June and July. There are several weekdays open but he mentioned the schedule is filling up fast.

There are some safe driving rules, there should be some level of instruction and planning to all of this. That might be as simple as a parade lap or two where we point out the designated course (that we have marked out with cones) entrance and exit locations and discuss what may be constituted as unsafe driving.

Anyone still interested? We should all meet up to discuss this, I would like to know if someone in the potential group has some experience with insurance and event organizing!

I've been to DCTC many times (tho only once with my Husky) and it's a great place to work on cornering skills, but I am hoping to go to the kart track in Cokato more this year. With only 15-25 riders the DCTC track would be pretty underutilized. It's tiring and most people get all the track time they can handle even when there are 75 riders or so. (or whatever is normal for a class) I'm thinking the kart track will be the same or more tiring since it also has a dirt section. Cheaper, too, I think.

I haven't piped up on this thread until now but I am looking forward to local rides too.

Sounds good to me, seems like most of us live fairly close.

Who wants to set it up?

I am free most every night, be out of town all next week though, anytime other than that, I'm ready.

The guy from DCTC called again and put the screws to me a little bit. He said the schedule is filling up fast! It sounds like 60-80 riders would not be a problem at all, maybe 20 minutes per group 3-4 rotations.
We just all need our own liability insurance.

I think this is might be a decent idea but coming together a little too late. There are alternatives between cokato and other club events at DCTC. I haven't been a part of the MN supermoto community at all, maybe after this summer it will make more sense to do something next year.

It would still be fun to get together. A bunch of husky's sitting in the parking lot would be a cool picture! Is tomorrow evening not enough notice?

I think that you are right on the dctc bit - it might be a little much a little soon. Just some group rides would be sweet. I dont think that I can make it out tomorrow though But generally my schedule is pretty free other than tomorrow night and this Saturday. Dont let me be the downer though.

We should all plan for next months First Thursday, it would be really cool to have a fleet of Huskys or just Tards for that matter. I know of a couple others that will most likely be down too (non huskys but tards). I was unable to go last night but would love to plan some kind of ride like that for next month.

Great idea for First Thursday. And there is lots of good weather before next month's First Thursday. I'd like to see how/where other people ride these things and check out other Huskys. Doesn't need to be anything special for me.
