Default Some unique bikes from Japan

Just some interesting bikes from Japan. Don't see many like them in North America. All kinds of 250's with expensive looking exhausts and FCR's.

    '94 Honda CRM250

    Honda AX-1 ???

    Very clean Honda XR250R

This XR250 has some speedy bits

    XR600

    Suzuki RMX250

    Some Kawasaki D-Trackers

This D-Tracker has a 292cc big bore and an FCR 33mm carb

This seat is definetely Japanese style

If anyone else has some uniquely Japanese SM pics... post away!

Very cool topic that I hope gets some response. Supermoto seems to be more known in Japan. Pretty interesting to see the different style others across the ocean have, they also had access to so many different models than we did!

Does anyone know any details on what an AX-1 is? I'm thinking it's a liquid-cooled 250, but I'm not sure.

You see that type of exhaust on a lot of different bikes over here, especially scooters (which happen to be all the rage and really are practical). The can reminds me of a White Brother's E Series with the tunable disks.

Quick Specs on the AX-1, quite similar to the NX250. Honda had so many cool bikes in the late 80's early 90's that many never knew about/the states never saw.

cool thread, I really dig Japan's Unique bikes

the AX-1 is a factory upgraded NX250 that wasnt available in the US.

kindof a supermoto forerunner.. the only thing like it at that time (1988) Hondas first liquid cooled, DOHC thumper and the styling was also way ahead of its time too.

upgrades were alloy rims, rear disc brake, SS pipe, twin headlamps
heres a photo of the first version:

and heres the most modded one Ive seen:

untill I luck up and find one available stateside I'll hafta keep rollin' on "The NX" but you never know.. I did find one of these here.

    ever see an "XLR80R"

I found this one local, guy brought it from Japan when he moved here. talk about a rare find.. they only ever produced 800 total and they were only sold IN Japan. there was also a XLR250R but no 100 or other versions of the true "XLR"s

now if I can luck up finding an AX-1! should be easier than the XLR80R but I wasnt really looking for that one when I found it. I had a hard enough time finding an NX250! funny thing is you couldnt have given me one when they came out LOL
