    Default After an oil change...

Noob question here regarding my WR250X. Recently changed the oil and filter and have been riding to work. Past two days I have noticed very small puddles of oil where I am parking. Seems to be coming from the base of the shift lever, where there is a significant greasy build up. Just not sure if this is started before or after the change, and whether or not I should worry. Barely has over 2k in miles. FWIW, it has also been raining when I ride, so I guess some of the water could sort of help drip it off when I park...
    Thanks.

i have a question too. not to thread jack! but mine also has just over 2k miles and i just changed the oil and filter and noticed in the old oil there is a few very small silver shavings... is this something to worry about?? it seems to run fine. i just happened to notice it when i was pouring my old oil in a jug and the very last bit of oil in my pan had the small silver shavings in it. and "no uh" i would make sure your drain bolt is not loose and i would clean up around the shifter and run the bike then park somewhere clean and see if anything drips.

also make sure you regularly check your oil level.

No uh, probably shift shaft seal. dont know if its common on our bikes but i had other bikes that they would leak on. clean all that dirt and greasy muck off with brake cleen and you should be able to see a seal, then ride it and see if leaks from it.

very small silver shavings or shiny sparkles in the oil would be kinda normal, keep in mind im thinking very small particles.... now if they are gold sparkles, thats not good!

they are silver. im thinking it might just be clutch shavings. ill go check and see if they are magnetic in a few minutes. someonetold me its kind of common for small clutch shavings. well i plan on changing the oil like every 1000 miles so hopefully ill be fine.

Are you the original owner? Did you buy bike new from a dealer?
Has the bike ever been dropped, or did it ever tip over and hit the shift lever?

I am the original owner. It fell over once on that side when I got hit by a car in a slow moving accident, but it didn't seem like anything happened at the time. I will have to clean it off and see, I just got a flat this morning so one more thing to worry about.
