Popping & farting DRZ

Yo! Finally got a chance to take out my '01 DRZ 400 for a little trail ride the other day and it started up ok and seemed to run fine but on any decel or off-throttle it would back fire bad. It had been sitting for a couple months. Any ideas? Thanks!

air fuel screw. adjust it all the way in then 1 1/2 -2 turns out then adjust as needed from there

pilot jet might be clogged.

yah id say take off the carb and clean it out. I had an issue like that with my xr400 it sat for a few months then the jets got gumed up in the carb, id say give it a good cleaning and go from there

if it started up and ran fine except popping on decel check the air screw first before you rip your whole carb off. When i was wrenching 90% of the time it was the air screw adjustment. also check your exhaust to make sure you dont have anything loose that will also produce the pop on decel.

Yo! Long time, Cole, good to hear from you! Yup, still dodging those cagers. Though, sometimes I get off the road and buzz down the trail along the RR tracks here in Santa Rosa. It's pretty fun and there's no speed limit signs. Gotta avoid the occasional drunk and/or illegal but the thump of the KTM tends to run 'em off. How you been? Where you at these days? Still CGing?
