    Default oil weep hole?

I seem to have a bit of oil leaking from the bottom of my case, there is what looks like a weep hole (like on a waterpump when it leaks to tell you the seals are gone) where the oil is coming from. I searched my manual and they do not reference any weep holes. Im thinking that i might need some seals in the bottom end? Any one know if this is a weep hole for the bottom end?

There is no "weep hole" that I know of beyond the tranny overflow. First you need to figure out where it's leaking from. Most likely it's the clutch case cover gasket failing. That's the one I've seen the most. Worse would be your main case gasket. Just clean it all off real well then come back after an hour and see where it's dripping from.

if it a 2 smoke spliting the cases to fix an oil leek is only a day job. get a mate over to give a hand have a few beers after it. as far as a weep hole for the cases not heard of one. as said earlir clean it all up real good to see where its comming from if its merely a weep and its from the cases i wouldnt worry about it too much just keep an eye on the levels. if its from the clutch cove then its an easy and cheap fix. it's not just oil from the pipe making its way underneath is it?

Seeing how this guys bike is dropping its guts on my garage floor, I could probably answer it. It is a pretty significant leak, about a 3 inch wide puddle after only like 2 days. I believe it does not appear to be the clutch cover, it does look like the gasket between the bottom cases. Sound like she may need to be opened up i guess.

If it's more than a few drops overnight, then yes...time to split the cases. Obviously I'd say put a new crank and bearings in while you're in there.

damn im a fool for not referencing a specific bike. thanks for the help guys. howver I am surprised there is a gasket between the cases. I have always used case bond to mate case halfs...never seen a gasket.

thats what I figured. we will see if any problem created by case bond can be solved by case bond.

'Eh, you might wanna be careful there. There could be tolerances not met by taking out the gasket. If OEM calls for it, I'd do it. Just my personal opinion. :p
