Default clark 3.9 tank for the DRZ 400 sm

bought a new/used set of blue and white plastics for my drz 400sm. The setup came with a clark 3.9 gallon plastic tank. When fitting it on tonight, i noticed that it completely covers the choke knob on my FCR 39, rendering it useless!!! Has anyone else attempted to fit this tank, and is there some trick that i am missing?

My Clarke 3.9 tank allows access to the choke knob. The knob does touch the underside of the tank when pulled out all the way but it doesn't inhibit use of the choke at all. This is a on a 2006 DRZsm with the stock carb.

FCR 39 No way the choke will work......I think i'm gonna look for a stock blue metal one or a IMS team tank 2.6 gallon. I picked this one up as part of a used blue/white plastics set.

I have a Clarke and an FCR. It works. Basically the knob had to be trimmed.

i had same set up 41mm carb with 3.9 clark i just shorten the knob and when i had to use it just pull on the tank a bit so u can pull it out , other then that the tank is great

I have the same tank and carb. I cannot pull my choke out and have it stay, but I can manually hold the choke about 1/2 out until It stays running. So far it has worked with it only 1/2 the way pulled out, and like that the knob is right against the clarke tank.

Like the post above, there is a solution to this. Something about removing the plastic part of the choke knob and shortening the metal rod then putting the plastic knob back on. Since mine works with 1/2 choke I havn't bothered doing this. There is a how to over on thumpertalk somewhere with pics...

I am looking for a used oversized tank for my E. Let me know if you decided to go with something different.
