    Default Oil Drain Plug Washer?

I am about to do my first oil change on the DRZ and I was curious what crush washers I need for the oil drain plug(s)?

Do both drain plugs need a crush washers?

On this schematic, it looks like I need #7 and #14 http://www.bikebandit.com/suzuki-mot...10376sch527304

I think the only "crush washer" is the one on the bottom of the motor. I don't recall the frame drain plug having a crush washer. Changed my oil 4-5 times so far, using spectro gold semi-synth 20-w50.

I bought a bunch of crush washers from the bike shop, and ordered like 10 filters from an e-bay seller.

i think the frame one is just a regular washer that does not need to be replaced. remember, the reasoning behind the crush washer is that you are putting a steel biolt into aluminum threads on the motor, this is niot the case on the frame because it is steel too.....

Cool, just the info I need. I like to have all my ducks in a row before getting into things, so will order a pack of crush washers for the oil drain plug.

    Thanks dudes!

get one or two, and then go to home depot and match tme to the ones they have there. It's much cheaper, just make sure you get aluminum ones that will crush. Look around on e-bay for the seller that sells like 10 oil filters for $30 w/ free shipping or get a stainless reuseable one. Give me a holler, so we can get out and go tear up the Frederick county / Howard county roads

In the 9 years I've owned DRZ400's, I've never changed the crush washer

Bombs, be sure not to overtighten the drain bolt with or w/o a new washer. It will crack the case. TT people recomend a new washer each time but like Bodgeitt I have never use a new one until lately. The filters are also in stock at many napa stores.

My 09 had a crush washer for the frame drain plug. It was a different style than the case drain plug washer, but a crush washer none the less and the dealer had it in stock although I dont know the part number....

Thanks guys. I have changed oil on a lot of bikes but this is completely different from the sport bikes I am used to. Looks easy now and hopefully it will be. Doing oil and front brake pads this weekend.

Probably a waste of money, but I got some Bel Ray Thumper semi synth oil, anyone ever used it?

I use Spectro gold semi-synth 20w-50 The bike only takes 1.8 quarts by the way....ok if a little more, it'll handle it.

Both the crankcase and frame oild drain plug are crush washers. They are not like normal flat crush washers. They actually have one end that is tapered. And they are different sizes. Not saying you can't get by using something else, or by using the same one over again, but they are only like .90 cents each.

Everytime I buy something big from an online place that carries them I stock up.

The frame one is number 18 here:
