Thats a good question. Here are a few of my ideas.

When i started this build i sat down a made a list of what i wanted. I had a few ideas come to mind. I wanted to do something I (and other people) could relate to. Im a huge ducati fan and have a few. Even though i dont have one im a bigger Desmosedici fan. I guess when i think of elite motorcycles (i) think of Ducati. Plus iv already build just a one off no name custom mini recently, so i though id do a mini Ducati. It is actually call the "DESmini 448R". Kinda a play on Desmosedici/Mini and 848/448(that the actual cc of the motor) and "R" because that is the top model. Hey who doesnt like a mini Ducati.

Here is a pic of the body work ill be running. Some MAJOR coin and from Japan. This is as good as it gets. The bike below is a friends in Japan from Team Mini Mugi. bike is equipped with some very nice parts and races in the premier mini GP (250cc). A very nice bike but i have one up'ed him a little..... Im going with the Ducati theme but not the "Ducati sponsor" theme. you will see what i get there, if you like the bike so far you wont be disappointed with the end result.

    More to come...

Today is D day. It looks like it will be 99.9% done as my custom radiator hoses and custom sprocket look like there not going to show up today. But as promised photos should be up by the end of the day.

Well here we are, im not 100% done, just need to install my rear sprocket, chain, grips, gauge, and fab some front fender brackets.

As you can see the trellis frame is not on the bike. I was getting frustrated with it and was ready to get the project done... for now...

Also the 450 is not there, after alot of considering the 450 (obviously) is WAY over kill. So i decided to do the Derbi swap with a 72cc BBK (should rip my arms off).

I could be here for days typing all the mods (and new mods), ill save that for questions or another time. Basically EVERYTHING is one off or modified.... except the OEM YSR seat. Not the best pics, ill get more when the bike is at 100%.

    Enjoy....

Isn't this like a step backwards? Get the other frame and motor together for the bike.

wow, don't get me wrong that is still a sick ass little bike. BUT, why ditch the two biggest and coolest parts of the bike??? That was an awesome trellis frame and having a 450 just made it even more exciting! Hope you still have plans to do something with it! If not, I know it wouldn't be hard to sell! Still props on your work and final bike!

Its SO very easy to just say "Make a frame and through a 450 in it". As far as "cool" factor, I have ONE OFF wheels, custom carbon and tons of custom (almost everything) parts. Id like to see ANY mini in the US with this much "bling". Like i said, the frame is not done and i was tired of seeing a pile of parts in the corner of my shop. Who know what the next step is for the trellis frame.

I just picked up a Derbi Supermoto 50 (Street leagl) and a WR250. Im going to ditch the Derbi motor and swap the WR250 in the Derbi Supermoto and part out the rest of the WR.

I also am finishing up my KTM 85SX (on 12"s) sumo build.

BTW AL i got ya covered.

I thought you got a 65sx? Did you get an 85 too, or was I wrong? At any rate, come back down to S. Florida, it was fun being on track with you.

Yep, i have a 65 too. I have A LOT of fun racing with ya. We just have a lot of work right now and were just catching up. Now that i have the Desmini project done its time to finish up the KTM(s) and start my new Derbi/Aprilia SX50 build (should be a good one). More on that soon.

I have to ask how much do you have invested in this one off bike? Incredible that the 450 would not shear the frame apart. That is one slick frame build. Curious to see how the center of gravity will effect the handling at high speeds. Look forward to seeing pictures of the completed project. Great innovative work and design.

    Cheers
