    Default slipper clutch question?

I have recently purchased a 2006 sm610. Apparently it has a race/slipper clutch fitted which i believe as i was given the stock clutch when i got the bike.
I had a pillion passenger riding with me briefly yesterday and almost every time i pulled away i had quite a violent stutter. The only thing i can compare it to is the feeling i would imagine you would get if your chain was loose and it skipped a tooth on your sprocket.
This has since happened twice more on a short ride while i was riding alone.
The guy who gave my bike a service today says it is to be expected with a race clutch, is this true?
    anyone got any thoughts/explanations?
    Thanks!

Doesn't sound normal to me. Racers don't like violent stutters any more than the rest of us do. And slipper clutches (which are rare for the 610) are designed to slip on deceleration, not acceleration. Maybe you have a centrifugal auto clutch like a Rekluse. The 610 is not a race bike so it's not too likely to have a slipper clutch, but it's possible.

If the stutter is that violent I would look closely at the drivetrain ASAP. First the external stuff. Teeth on the sprockets, splines on the ID of the countershaft sprocket, amount of slack in the chain. Next check the oil for debris. And either way I would pop the clutch cover off and see what is really in it for a clutch. Lay the bike on its side so the oil doesn't drain out, or take it off when doing an oil change. Take pics and post 'em here for our entertainment pleasure!

thanks for your thoughts. My bike has only done 800miles from new, it was just in for its first service. i have checked all the obvious drivetrain parts and they are all in perfect condition!
I will whip the clutch cover off when i have a bit more time on my hands and have a good look!
If the problem persists i may just change back to the original clutch as i have no real need for a slipper clutch anyway.
