    Default Shock Decal?

Where do you guys find the energy drink graphics for the shock reservoir? I've seen redbull that I thought would be a cut down can but monster's can is too big? I would really like a Monster shock reservoir. Sorry, I should have pm'd someone that has one when I saw it.

Use a smaller Oz. drink can. Cut the top and bottom off. Split the back and narrow can until it wraps around to suit you. Apply adhesive, use a large worm-gear clamp (Radiator hose clamp) to hold in place until glue sets.

    Thats how I did mine.

Why you would want to make your shock overheat and thermally break down the shock fluid by placing a wrap around the shock?

It's an aluminum can, on an aluminum shock body. I don't ride on a track with jumps & such, so I don't see it overheating anything.

I beg to differ...I have never burnt myself on my shock...and I don't ride like a "fackin poosey"...but I could be wrong cuz my ex-wife insisted that I was wrong all the time

You are probably right. When I get home from work today I'm gonna cut the Joe Rocket patches off my jacket and pants as well as remove the KTM decals from my bike. Neither of which pay me to wear their gear or to ride their bikes, so I don't want people to get the wrong idea.

I'm now actively seeking sponsorship for bikes, riding gear and energy drink labels for my shock resevoir. Please PM me if you are interested

I would say that with as much money as Red Bull, Monster, Rock star, blah blah blah, are putting into motorcycle racing, I think giving them a little props by sporting there logo is kinda cool!

Although! I have an Air Walk shoes sticker I found in my basement on my CRF and I'm not sure they are even in business anymore

Who cares, plain bikes are lame.

On another note... I'm pretty sure that aluminum would act as a heat sink and dissipate heat as oppose to retain it.

Well the shock body is aluminum and if the can I put around it was say 1/10th the body thickness I might have some concern if I were racing a 3 hr. Hare & Hound but it's a street tard! Made me think about putting one on my 500 for about 2 seconds then I.
    If you guys are ridding fast enough to be over heating the shock then;
1 Your already getting paid to ride fast.
2 You've got someone to rebuild the thing after every moto if necessary.
3 You've got no business on here worrying about what anybody else is
    doing,

Oh no don't get me wrong, I am fully aware of how hot a shock can get. The fuel gets hot in the tank also, this is a much more relevant performance factor than suspension fluid heat. Now if your riding hard and fast properly set up suspension is key. So you can wrap or coat the exhaust, use the best brake fluid you can find and protect the fuel from heat. The performance of my suspension is not relevant, to me, on this street tard. If I thought for one second having a soda can wrapped around my shock body, even at my best, would slow me down I'd be the first to wrap it with ice if I had to. But...my best was in the dez at very high speed over rocks, square edges and miles of whoops working the suspension to the max, my capabilities always were the limiting factor.

Might want to have your suspension serviced! Just saying.

Here we go, anyone out there have one of those laser thermometers and a buddy with a soda can around their shock body.....

By "Putting" money into motorcycle racing, they're paying riders 6-7 figure sums to sport their logos. They also pay promoters for ad-space at their events. This is only so they get their logos in front of their target demographic(s). They do it not only at motorcycle events, but NASCRAP, and any other event that targets their customer base.
"Supporting" the sport might be a little more worthy of paying for the privilege of placing their logos on your bike. You know...like actually getting involved and putting the money where it makes a difference. Like donating to the fight against land closures, or maybe against the small bike ban... That of course isn't the reason why they're in it..
It's simply advertising to them. I guess finding someone that for some reason feels obligated to sport their logos on their bike(s) is just icing on the cake to them. Especially when the "Sport-ee" (Sport-er?) actually pays for the sticker/logo/can that they're gonna put on their bike.
Just don't be fooled into thinking they have the common decency to give you a reach-around.

i kind of had to chuckle when i saw that people were worried about putting a can that is about 1/64th of an inch thick on a already aluminum shock res. Like i had told a guy before about this type of thing "so your telling me that if they made that shock res. 1/64th of an inch thicker then the whole thing would not work and it would just fall apart?" once he thought about it he changed his mind.

The thickness is not the issue. Adding the 2nd layer over has a barrier that the heat can not dissipate across at the same rate as the actual aluminum.....not to mention the lack of direct cooling not getting to the shock surface.

When your shock starts going BOING....BOING ....with no damping you will know why.

How is putting a energy drink can over your shock resivior differ from putting those super thick decals over the upper part of inverted forks?
