    Default street/track and a 150 rear, help!!!

i use my husky about 50/50 street and track. i can't figure out what tire to get for my husky in a 150 rear. i used dunlop d208sm's and some michelin thing. i had problems with both tires getting greasy when i was still at a comfortable pace. i was thinking about getting supercorsa's, but it's bad enough i'm spending over $400/set on them for my sv. so, i figure why not ask around. so, please tell me what your street/track tire is and what group you ride in (advanced, intermediate, etc.). anyone using continental sm's for this?

    many thanks.

btw, i tried a search and it came up with a whole lot of nuttin'. sorry, i suck at the search function.

I was lookin at my bike yesterday, and I think you could squeeze a 160 on there. That might open up your options. I know 150s are not offered in a lot of sets.

thanks for the suggestions all. definitely looking for a DOT. i used a 160 but the 150 d208 worked better than the 160 michelin.

Actually sport bike 150/60/17 size rear tires are quite common, unless you're talking race tires.

Try the Conti SM's. I've read a crap load of tyre threads here and on TT and have never head anyone mention the sm's getting greasy. I've got one going on this spring so I can't give personal experience just yet.

i guess i was just looking to see if anyone was using their motards as a street and track bike. my friend did scary things to distanza's in a single track day. definitely not the tire for me. the bridgestone was a tire i was considering, with an 003 front. i was having a hard time finding the '16 in a 150 rear. i used d208sm's and they got greasy pretty quick. pilot powers got greasier quicker (though i believe that has as much to do with the 160 as it does the compound).

i'll guess i'll have to try to find out more about the conti-sm, or maybe go with an 090/003 setup... either that or i'll get new tires for the sv and use my take-off's on the husky...

    what pressure are you running?

I would expect a PP to hold up much better than a D208
a 160 PP or PP 2CT should be just right for a 5" rim

part of the issue with the pp (non-2ct) was that it was pinched up. but i've been keeping pressures around 22/22. the bikes light enough, may as well get some contact patch, ya know. i agree on the 160, it's just WAY too big for the 4.25 rim. in all fairness, it's too big for the 4.5" rim on my sv.

I run 50/50 street track and have had no problems with the 150 pilot power.
I mean it would slide predictably when pushed past it's limits, but I was very impressed how hard I could push them on a cold track. No issues on the street.
Is it possible your suspension may be the issue?
