    Default 2nd gear wheelie

my question is how is wheelieing on 2nd gear with the clutch on the the drz-400 stock?

i have a zx636 and i wheelie it in second and it can go pretty far.

what gear is a good gear to wheelie on the drz and is shifting required?

i can power wheelie in 1st and 2nd on my drs 400 sm w/ no problem. third w/ clutch up a slight hill w/ a tug on the bars w/ stock gearing.
Although i have not found it yet, you should not have to shift if you have found the balance point, you should be able to go forever in the same gear without shifting unlss you need to pickup speed.

2nd gear is probly the easiest gear to wheelie in (atleast stock) but you can't really compare it to 2nd gear on a zx6. You shouldn't have to shift if you keep it balanced. For sitdowns I ussually rather shift after awhile instead of bringing it past bp to slow down but it's whatever you feel comfortable with.

You might not be able to pull it up with power in 2nd on stock gearing at first but for clutchin up it comes up real easy in 2nd. Just get used to the bike and ummm if it's completely new you probably should be careful not to push it too hard.

i figured out the problem i turned my bike back into the dealer to look and my plug was fouled and some thingd needed inspection. the guy that sold me the bike was more in a rush than i was o the mechanic didnt have time to do a final inspection and test.

i popped it after leaving the dealer and it came up just ot to get use to it im use to heavier cafe bikes.

3rd gear is the easiest to wheelie in. Clutch and Pull up at 25mph. But if you can clutch and pull up in 4th its the best.

Uhhhh, you do realize we're talking about a STOCK DRZ right? A stock DRZ will not pull me up in third, much less fourth. I can barely get third after the mods, and you really have to abuse the bike to do it even then. I'm referring to sit down wheelies BTW, I'm sure you can bounce it up from the passenger pegs.

im new to streetbikes and just bought a drz? i want to try a sit down on it, should i just expieriment? and if i think im gonna loop....will engine break bring me down? or should i tap the rear break? im used to an rm125 that doesnt engine break much, so i dont know how good the engine will do.

If ur used to 2 stroke you should be a bit safer off since you really have to use the rearbreak for those.

Engine break will in most cases save you unless you have ur idle set high or you go too far, just be careful and you probly wont have to use the rearbrake, but keep it covered just incase

Then post some vid of those big 'ol balls in action on the bike. Third gear sitdowns on my bike require a BIG slip of the clutch, and fourth just makes noise then does nothing, at least with someone my size on the bike. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but for sitdowns I just wanna see it is all.

You have to learn where the power is in the gears. It doesnt come quickly. Learn where the power is, where to be before the power, so that when you compress the suspension (if needed) and pull up on the pars and open the throttle wide the power delivery is there to be able to let the front wheel rise. Thats what I have to say from my years of experience riding dirt bikes.

i can pull up a 3rd gear wheelie sitting down with clutch, but its probalby impossible to pull up a 4th gear sitting down. ill get a video of me doing 4th gears standing up though. i have gotten a 5th gear up once but it took a bunch of clutching and just the perfect speed and place in the power band. i havent gotten one up since then though.

Ya I'd like to see easy 4th gear wheelies! The fastest I can be going to pull it up is 45mph, any faster and I cant do it. Once up I can shift in to 4th or 5th but pulling it up in 4th, no way! But I'm doing sit downs, dont like stand ups.

The larger your butt, the more advantageous it is to aid the wheelie as COUNTER BALAST. You need to slide back on that seat and you will be suprised how the front comes up. What works on a teeter-totter works on a wheelie.
