    Default SMC Bore Kit

I'm sure this has been discussed before somewhere at sometime but I need insight on this. I am thinkin about goin bigger on my 625. Yep!, I want more kahunas outta the beast. Rather than trade in and setup up to a new monthly payment. I'd rather upgrade and mod it out a lil.

Is it worth it? Will the squeeze be worth the juice? Anybody know who makes the kits? What I need to change out to make this work? i.e the case, cams etc. Or if this is even possible? Cause and effects?

My google searches are coming up empty. Thanks in advance!

    hmmmm.

AFAIK, there is no bolt-on big-bore 'kit'.

i know there is a cam, and with enough money, i'm pretty sure the cylinder can be overbored, re-coated, new piston installed, have a stroker crank made, have whole motor lightened-balanced/blueprinted.

might as well buy a multi cyinder/more powerful bike too.

also, there is a 660 motor, but i'm pretty sure it's still 625cc.

however, and you've likely already been told, your money would be better spent on having the suspension sprung and revalved for your weight/riding style, a new pair of tires, and multiple trackdays/schools of learning.

a wise sage once told me: 'if you're riding that bike to 100% of it's potential, you should probably quit your day job' LOL, and i was transitioning from an EX500 to a CBRF2 at the time wayy back in 1996......

That is very true, a regular rider can't get nowhere close to the full performance of some of today's sportbikes...on the street (or even on the track).
Not being cocky, I include myself there as well.
I just laugh when I see some people on 180 bhp street bikes or 70 bhp supermotos..when a 250 to 600 cc bike would be PLENTY.
    Sorry for the threadjack.

There is a bigger kit from KTM - but I don't think they sell/make it anymore. It's a new cylinder/piston/crank and puts capacity up around 700cc (I've a friend who just bought the lot on ebay a few weeks ago! ). Also, the 660 is actually 660cc, but I don't think that went to the states.

ya gotta remember about HP #'s, that they will always vary on whose dyno it was done, and even the conditions from day of each individual dyno, and that's not even opening the can of worms concerning the manufacturers stated HP #'s...are they talking about crank or rear wheel HP????

just alot of variables there....suffice to say if you have enough money to do a bore and stroke jobbie on your 625 by all means go for it

the 660 is common LC4model over here, and it only had 2 hp and 3 nm more than the 625, so to put so much effort and money too gain only 30cc and minor performance changes (660=654cc) is a waste of time and money.
the biggest difference between the 625 and 660 was the aloy subframe, no E-start, no battery,...

better tune the stock 625cc motor or go big (the biggest bore was 720cc for a LC4)

I just got done reading about all the bore and stroke number and the relative HP they can or should put out. I would have to agree that for only a few more HP than what I got, it just not worth it to do the 660 upgrade, plus I like my estart to much I want to see 65rwhp or higher to make this worth my time.

BUT, and this is a BIG BUT. If it possible to get all the parts I need to complete a 693, 709 or as you said the 720. Then I would consider it. I'm thinkin of doing this just for fun and on the side. If I can get it completed before I die then I'd throw it in the bike.

I'm goin to start looking into the availability of parts. Thanks guys for all your help and input so far.

what i meant with 'no e-start' is that the european version of the 660 had no e-start, and that is what made the 660 lighter
you can mount a 660 kit on your 625 without any problems and still keep your e start, but it's just not worth it...

Yep, I got ya. I didnt realize that the 660 would only give a few extra pony's. Not worth my time. Wonder what the 692 or 709 kit puts out? anybody?

I just priced out the 692-709 kit from SCHNEIDER (http://www.ktmax.de/indexa.htm) with new cams, TI-vales, new springs and 80mm shaft. (I cant find a 82mm shaft for the 709 kit.) The total comes to $3350 before shipping. If its coming from germany the shipping will be a few hundo as well. I figure $4k for it all and thats just to get started. I figure a air intake upgrade would be needed too.

This project may take a year for me to get completed I have to laugh b/c after all that. I gotta ask, whats the new 690 SMC puttin out?

I've heard that the real 660 rallye bikes put out over 70rwhp ... I can sorta believe it.

I did rally iv cam, akro, derestricted, falicon welded crank and slipper clutch and ended up with 57hp. It runs good, but still doesn't compare to the Berg.

Nope, but i wish. I found this on another site that a guy bought. I'm trying to contact him to see if he put it in. I found a site that a few guys have 05 & 06' 660 rally engines for sale. problems is that they are on the opposite side on the world from me.

If I could get my hands on a one of those...... I wounder if it would go right into a 625 frame and everything hook up right.

another issue is that i would have to get a new CDI for it. I cant imagine the 625 CDI would work for it. DAMN! I'm hitting some walls here. Once my 660 rally engine book gets here. I'll should have a better idea of what I'm up against.
