Default ***KTM Demo Day @ Pure KTM (10/10-11/2008)***

Well, I took my normal ride home from work this morning which consists of Ft Lauderdale beach.... I could not F'ing believe what I saw when I went by Pure KTM!!!!

That's right bitches... I rode KTM's all day long!!!

    Bikes I rode today:

    1- RC8 1190 (damn right I did!!!)
    2- 990 Super Duke
    3- 950 SM-R
    4- 690 Duke
    5- 950 Super Enduro
    6- 990 Adventure
    7- 690 SM-R

The RC8 was cool as hell (I was the first one to ride it too!!!), but not for me... The thing is fast and has very good low-end power. The tranny is rock solid... Pretty comfy for a sportbike too. You can adjust the clip-ons, rearsets, sub-frame, and ride height in a matter of just a few minutes for each thing... Looks are freaking sick!!! Very cool bike to have...
Price= $20k (as per the regional sales mgr)

My 2 favorites (besides my own 690 SMC) were the 990 Super Duke and the 950 SM-R... Both have the upright riding position I love and a lot of balls to match!!! I would seriously consider a Super Duke....

The best part was one the guys working there drooling over my SMC... I let him take it out and he loved it!!! There's a pic of him on it in here....

I highly suggest you all make it if they come to your area....

    RC8 1190

I checked KTM's web site, but it doesn't look like they have anything coming to my area this year :(

If I could afford one, I'd have bought it on the spot!!! Seriously, I have never felt so comfortable on any bike I've ever ridden (including my sumos)... Perfect upright riding position, amazing turn-in and cornering, and a whole lot more power than my 690....

I really wish they would have come farther south sooner (they usually only go as far down as Georgia)... If you can get to one of these events, I HIGHLY recommend it!!! The KTM guys were very cool too....

Yep, we were up there for our annual Floribama Riders Fall Rally.
We were staying at High Valley...formally known as the "Airport"

I had My 690 SMR and the only bike I wanted to ride was the RC8 but not enough to take the time to do so...the SMR was made for that area!

The guy on the RC8 demo ride washed the front and did go to the Hospital, but no issues with him, on the other hand the one issue was the guy that hit the mail delivery vehicle just past TWO going toward Dahlonega....he was seriously injured.

Other than really having to look for fuel....50% of the places had no fuel and the ones that did only 5% had premium!
We had a great weekend, perfect weather and we really hated to leave.

What were you riding....I saw a 950SMR on the back of a truck....???And one of the other club members has a SM 690 and an Enduro 690....rough life ; )

I just happened upon that deal too. I meet Hollywood33, cool guy. I rode the 690 Duke, the 690 SMC and the Super Duke. I loved the Super Duke. It just felt natural. I currently ride a Suzuki Bandit and the Super Duke was everything I like about my bike times infinity. As soon as I got off of it I knew I had found my next new bike. I also liked the 690 SMC. My first time on a Sumo and it was all that I knew it would be and more. I didn't like the riding position on the 690 Duke at all. The seat had me up against the tank and vibrated a lot more than the SMC.
I was behind the RC8's on a couple of the rides and those guys kept locking up the brakes. The KTM guys told the riders that the front brakes were super sensitive and that a few had already been crashed in the last month. That and the fact that I had no desire to own one kept me from riding it.
I had a great time and the demo rides served its purpose. It got me excited enough about a bike to start figuring out how I'm going to buy one.

Holy crap.... I had no idea you were on this board!!!

Sorry if I talked your ear off... I get pretty excited about KTM's and sumos in general.........

I'm glad you liked that Super Duke... Let me tell you, if I could afford it, I would have bought Wayne's demo (the black 2008)... Too bad the economy is in the dump right now... I too think that will be my next bike... That thing just feels PERFECT!!!!

Glad to have met you (BTW, nice screen name... )... Feel free to PM me on here if you ever want to take a spin...

    Chris

I didn't know that you were on this board until I saw your post. I've been lurking and learning about sumos for about 6 months. I get pretty excited about them too. You were so right about the Super Duke. I've already started saving for one.

I agree with you guys and have yet to figure out why the SD isn't more popular than it is (maybe price??) Without a doubt, it is the best street bike I've ever owned, and I've had my share...

Price is a big factor for me... Even the demo (5k miles) was going to be ~ $12k OTD...

Not gonna happen right now.... I'll just have to make do with my SMC...

    Oh well......
