    Default Big Twin Supermotards

Show us some new ideas from the heavy weight class. If you've gotta 950sm/R or 950 Enduro/17's or maybe someone has got an Adventure/17's or Hyper or Strada/17's and don't knock it til you ride it the HP2/Mega. Big Bike Blast in Yosemite or Monterey??

On occasion it gets ridden on the street...I'll be racing it in some local SM in the Colorado Class (All Asphalt) to get some practice and geared up for the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in July. I'll be racing it in the 750+ Twins class if all goes well.

Sounds like you got to see team MegaMoto at last years Pikes. And to answer, yes I like the full system but in attack mode it scrapes.

Those are some sweeet! 950's you have. Scary, that is the nicest "R" i've seen. I just picked up an 07 SuperDuke, I picked up a few things,Front KTM axle sliders,SME axle block sliders, and just got my carbon KTM solo cowl! I'm trying to save for some carbon Leo's,PC3,and a set of frame sliders!!! Crash what bend bars do you have?

    Alcorn,
Really nice Super D, I got used to 31.5 inch wide bars on my 625smc in 8000 miles of carving. So when I got on the 950 with it's stock 29.5 inch bars it just wasn't working for me. I'm all over it in the twisties so it's more stable for me anyway during transition from side to side when you get that occasional SHUDDER. A little wider a little more leverage a little more stability especially when off the seat. And it gives you the extra space for grip guards.

Thanks for the compliment Alcorn. It's amazing....all of these bikes look amazing in stock trim, it doesn't take much of an add to make them even cooler and add a little personal flavor to them in the process.

I think I'm going to try and make mine into a 2 into 1 LV System. After looking at it, I think all it would really take is a small S connector to take the place of the Y that it has now.

Jolly....sorry to hear of your loss.....it looked like a ton of fun!

Snarf, you live in some beut country side, I bleed ORANGE so my decision to go black was touch and go. Yours is flippin smokin, really like the graphics and hard parts grip guards. Wheels are a two stage Candy Blue Powder, mirror silver base then blue over coat w/no metalic. Gotta see em in the sun they're alive.
Look closely at your Superlite Brembo wheels they're Amazing. Go Orange!

I'm glad you all are posting about these 950's... I have a non-KTM dealer that has a 2007 950 SM (750 miles) in orange that I'm debating on trading my R1 in on... What do you guys think of $9500 for it? That's what I was quoted over the phone...

Also, I need REAL opinions of how these bikes handle the highways (that's all we have here)... I'm not talking 150 mph+ speeds, but what is a comfortable highway speed for them?

    Thanks....

I don't mind short trips on the boringway but you do get buffeted around a little with NO fairing at all. However if you can stand the look there are some cool small fairings out there that would make a huge difference other that get them down a liitle more and BUY. It's tough times out there, see EBay New SM/R's and Super D's NEW all over and ZERO bids. Go Orange

It is a 950 twin making over a 100hp they handle as expected on a highway very well. They are just like any other naked twin (monster, hyper, etc.) You can cruise at 80, 90, or 100 without any problems what so ever even 100 + if you are not worried about getting tickets

If it's a non-KTM dealer, they probably want to get rid of it. I didn't see any on Ebay, but there are quite a few on Cycletrader Online. 2006's are anywhere from $7,000...which seems really cheap to $8500....2007's are anywhere from $8500-$9500 with a little more miles.

The first service is about $500 or so depending on dealer....if it's been done I'd offer em $9000....if it hasn't, knock the $500 off for the first service and see what they say.

That's another reason I'm looking at it... My wife used to love going for a ride when I had my Busa (has that cool little bar on the back for a passenger to hold while cruising), but now with the R1, forget it... She won't even think about riding... I know, some people may think that's a plus...

I was thinking about $9k as well... Any issues with the '07? Did they fix the starter and rear brakes on this year? Where can I find the Service Bulletins on this bike?

    Thanks again....

As far as I know all the problems were taken care of with the 2007....I don't have a ton of miles on mine but have had 0 problems. I'll have to dig up any service bulletins, I don't recall any off the top of my head....if you get closer your more then welcome to PM me the VIN # on the bike and I can tell you if there are any open TB's that have yet to be performed on it.

Some sweet bikes here for sure but doesn't anyone have a Hyper? If I had the dough I go for the Duc and I've been a KTM man from the early 80's.

I do believe those blue wheels look better in person. I have candy blue wheels on my Triumph Daytona and they look lame in pics but excellent in person.

I've been planing to build a parallel twin street sm for a while and even bought a 650 Yam to use but just don't have the time to do it.

[QUOTE=HOLLYWOOD33;473702]Just a thought here, but how about the bars in blue too to go with the wheels...

Wanted to but bars are filled with rubber for dampning and after 8000 miles on 625smc I want as much of that as I can get. Powder coating VERY hot process, would burnout rubber.

Here is a video of me on my 07' 950 SE. I was just playing around on the track between Supermoto sessions. What surprised me most was how well it jumped for a 400lb motorcycle.

Its southwest of Lexington, KY. Actually its about 20 minutes through some excellent backroads from my parents house. Thats actually a dried out creeck bed, if you can beleve it. 20 feet behind where i was standing to take that shot, is a 8 foot drop off into a lower part of the creek.

I love kentucky Theres places liek this everywhere you go down here.

Scary, an image of your 950 from front and rear would be excellent and a group shot of all three?

Sun is coming up in Central Calif time to gear up.

Here's a couple more...they were all taken in the garage at night....so the quality isn't the best.

You had mentioned a group shot...I don't have one of all of them but here are photos of the other two at the bottom. The pic of the 450 was taken the middle of December at a local Harescramble....it was kinda snowy, slick and cold...but fun none the less!!

The damper is a tough one....if I was doing only street use I probably would not have put one on....it's a really nice product but I think it's overkill for street use. I put it on for wobble I may get going up the Peak.....and there is definately the cool factor involved.

The are the R&G sliders.....I got them from www.ktmtwins.com. So far they are the nicest I've seen for the SM....IMO the others look cheap in comparison. There a European company and getting them direct saves a little bit of money but by the time they get shipped out here it's a wash.

Scary, that 450 looks like a real fun stump jumper. Isn't Christmas just around the corner?
