Default New Track opening off of Thornburg exit on I-95 in VA !!!!

Met with the developer/owner of a new facility that is being planned for the Thornburg exit off I-95 in VA. He's interested in reaching out to POCs for sportbike and supermoto event organizers and schedulers. Also planning on having a single-track course set up in woods on the property.

I mentioned WERA, CCS, Gerry McGinnis, but I'm not sure who else may be running events for track days and / or races that may want to run events on the east coast, at this new track in VA. The venue should be open for business in 2014. The owner is very interested in engaging event promotors/sponsors for the 2014 season now.

The owner's name is Steve Britt and he can be reached at britt7615@aol.com.

PLEASE feel free to pass along his e-mail to race and trackday organizers, he is interested in speaking with them now before he breaks ground.

    Regards,
    Barry

I'm sure SMEC (SuperMoto East Coast) will host races there for sure, contact Marco or Jay - Jay's username is Smythe. Marco is promoting Golden Tyre, I know he's on FB and has a site

At just over an hour away, this is awesome news! So much better than the 4 hours to Jersey or the 4 hours to VIR.

Cool! Any notion of what the layout might be like?

He should get in touch with Roger Lyle and the Folks at Team ProMotion as well.

Wish they were opening sooner but glad to see more tracks popping up.

I didn't realize SP stopped SM. WTF! I just looked at their FB page. Used to be my home track for SCCA racing and WERA racing. Finally putting together my bike and wanted to go back. Ugh!

does he have a track layout already? if not maybe we could provide some input! If he is looking for sportbikes and Supermotos on the same track it probably will be too wide open for us to have as much fun. Not that im bashing a new place to ride, but it would be nice in the beginning to have some input and have some extra chicanes thrown in there for us. edit. looking at the latest drawing there is still no kart track but they say its planned.

Yup, no kart track yet and the current layout doesn't look very SM friendly. Maybe Parcels B or C will be have something.

The infield by the words "parcel A" could be used if there is some connectors... or a whole bunch of off road mini sections...lol

That layout is not too hot... why not make every configuration SAFE for motorcycles?

That real tight S section looks like a lot of trouble, It'll be slow in there, but man they look close

I'm pretty sure that is just a general idea and not what it will end up being. Supposedly they are in talks with car and bike organizations to work out a track layout everybody will like.
