Default Front Wheel Comparison: 16.5" VS. 17"

Hey guys first post here. I'm new to the Supermoto world but I've been involved in Roadracing and MX for a while now. I see there are alot of mixed feelings about the two different sizes of front wheels. I'm in the process of converting over a 08 CRF 450 and I'm looking at buying some wheels but I was hoping some of you experienced supermoto guys/gals could tell me the Pros and Cons to the different sized wheels.

I will be using the SM for manily Roadracing at bigger tracks and some go-kart stuff here and there.

If there is already a sticky or thread on this I apologize about no searching hard enough to find it.

    Thanks

Well, 99% of the SM Racers run 16.5 up front for the track - Know not of any DOTs in 16.5 so the 17 is common for the street

Also, the 16.5 has a noticeable faster drop in - I just switched to a 16.5 front and 5.5 rear from a 17 front and 5 rear for the track and felt it right off the bat into the 1st corner

    Just my .02

Thanks Eddie. I appreciate the input. I'm assuming the faster drop in rate has to do with less rotating mass and possibly a steeper rake angle created by the smaller front tire?

Thanks Idle. I also now feel a little smarter. Alot of back and forth going on there but I def picked up some good learning points. I think the 16.5 woudl be a good option.
