    Default project BLACK DIAMOND cr 500af street build

    supposed to start this build over 2 years ago

    oh well,,,ive finally got it on the boil

    donor bikes,91 cr500 07 crf 450








    stripped crf frame and added aprillia rxv swingarm





    500 motor stripped for full refresh vapourblasted











    few bits of bling and frontend ( marzocchi shiver 50 pro action setup)











    will add updates as and when they happen

    why did you go with an sxv swingarm? shorter? stiffer? Wondering if I could do the same to my 99 cr250r. what was involved in the swap? details please!! nice project too!

    It's not an SXV arm, it's an RXV.
    It slots straight in ( I have one for my crf)
    Advantage is purely cosmetic although it does make wider rim fitment easier than the crf.
    Mine slots a 5.25 Dymag in quite easily

    Awesome build looks like you do an amazing job!

    Question and this is not bashing in anyway! Why are you using such a new 450 frame? I want to build a 500af but will probable use a 98-99 because you don't have to chop the frame. Again this is just a question I am not meaning to poke. And again that is going to be a sweet ride!!!

    are those real CF body panels ? where did you get them ?

    gonna have to look into that arm for my 97 AF500 build im doing now... just got done with all the PC'ing today.. need to get all my rear suspension bearings and reassembly can begin... (street legal also)

    not really an update but ime bored,,coolhead back from polishers,,bit grubby from folks pawing it whilst i wasnt there

    Do you know how hard it was for me to convince my wife spending $3000.00 on my suspension was a valad purchase? And considering I'm not a professional rider?

    The only way I could build bikes like yours is if I was paying alimony with it.
