Others, sorry it's not working for the NY crowd. I had him make the original bracket for what I have and know, and it works great...

In Gib's defense, you can't build a 6" bracket to fit inside a 5" fender. All you have to do to test that, is hold your plate up under the fender by hand, and you'll get a clue of what you'll be dealing with... He has no way to check plates from every state to see what works in regard to text.

Well the wiring diagram Gib gave me with the color matching of Greg's 09 sm510 worked fine on my 06 sm610. I also had to trim a considerable amount of my plate and drill a 1 new mounting hole but I'm satisfied with the outcome. I'll try and take some pics soon and I'm also going to try and measure the distance from side to side so people can expect how much they may need to trim their plate so no one purchases one without knowing if their plate can be trimmed to make this work.

Overall I'm very happy and it turned out great for me.

Hmmm so it looks like you Americans have more of a prob than us here in the UK, only really wanted the exact width so I could make a template and get my plate man to put the largest small font possible, you lot have all sorts of legal crap over your plates.

Don't really think it's fair to moan though, like what was said above it's pretty obvious roughly what size gap we are working with.

Here are the pics from my 06 sm 610. Since I couldn't easily find an mx fender for the 610 in the pearl grey color I just took a dremel to the stocker and cut the light housing off. Looks like the fender area is narrower than on the 510 but I was able to trim my plate and re-drill 1 of the mounting holes and get it mounted up just fine so anyone that wants to get this just measure between the bolts on your bike and check your plate first to be sure you can trim it adequately. No need to gripe as this is a very fairly priced solution that works great. Also the wiring sheet that shows the color pairs from the OPs 510 worked just fine for my 610 so the colors were exactly the same.

Of course when I hooked it all up I realize they mounted the actual light upside down so I just flipped it back over and it works like a charm.

Well my taillight from Gib arrived. Shipping was fast, order on Friday and received on Tuesday. Overall I'm very happy with the quality of the bracket. Sucks so much modification is required to make the plate fit, but that just part of the game. Just waiting on my mx fender to arrive and i'll be doing the install. At last no hideous growth on the back of my bike.

Just took a 1/8" thick sheet of aluminum from lowes and trimmed it out with some sheers from a cardboard template I made.

It took longer than expected, but my LED tailight from Gib is now installed! Like others have experienced, my plate was too big to fit and I didn't like the angle so I improvised a little. I also wasn't happy with the visibility of the LEDs (read: wife wants other cars to see me). The solution I came up with was to remove 4 inches of the rear fender (the dremel was already out so why not?). Let me know what you guys think!

Weird. My 09 blinks fine, and I don't even have signals up front to drag the load down... A fairly small resistor should fix you up.

I read somewhere that if I remove the front signals from it would fix the problem. I think it was on TT but I can't find it again. The post was saying that if you run an LED light with a regular light such as the front signals it will cause the rapid blinking. I think the article said I could add a risitor or remove the regular light or add LED signals. I think resistor is the way to go I'm just not sure what size would be best.

Hey I tryed calling Gibb but that number seems to be dissconnected!
i am having hard time trying to figure the color diagram.
the kit has white,red,brown, black and purple wire and my 510 has yellow/red, brown, light blue, dark blue and black/red wires! so i need to know which goes with which?
if anyone has any idea please help!

Do you have the wiring diagram? If not send me your email and i will foreward it to you. If your colors are for some reason different use a test light on bike and 12v battery on led light. Black is ground

Switch your running light and your brake light wires. I had the same prob on my '10 smr 510. No big deal.

I try to keep them on ebay so just search for it. Some of the contact info posted above is changing here soon. As of 6/3/2011 the shop I have worked at for 16 years or so will no longer exist. No worries for the supply of brackets I have plenty cut out until I land my next job which looks like is real soon. I'll keep you posted.

Gib's bracket is so clean. Get's rid of that whole secondary bracket as well as outrigged signals.
