Welcome to SMJ, we are more than happy to have the opportunity to further infect you with the Supermoto Virus!

But first..., this section of the forum is typically the best place for your first post and is specifically for you to introduce yourself to the rest of the membership and perhaps tell us a little about yourself if you would like to do so. Feel free to give us the same kind of info you would introduce yourself to any new group with. Remember we are an international group and enjoy learning where you live, your riding background and/or what brought you to either own (or be intersted in) supermotos.

Remember, this spot is for your introduction and NOT the best place for your first questions, we have just met you. Our interest in this section is to see who you are, where you are from and find out a little about you since you have just joined our community. There are plenty of different specific sections in the forum that are vastly more appropriate for your questions and they will get more attention there .

Chances are also pretty good that your first questions may have been covered before as well. Please take the time to do some research on your specific concerns by simply trolling (or cruising) different forums that interest you to see if they have previously been or are currently being discussed.
You can also do more specific research by employing the SEARCH BUTTON underneath the header banner at the top of the page. Enter key words for whatever interests you (i.e. "Best Street Tard", "", "megan fox' :D, "street-legal requirements", etc.) and you are more than likely to get several pages of information to sate your curiosity.

Now that we have been introduced and you have done some preliminary reasearch, feel free to fire away with questions, comments, concerns, observations, ride alerts, ride reports or whatever. And always remember, every post is better if you can work in a pic. In fact, some demand them!

Another newbie here from Clay NY (CNY). Been riding since I was a kid, dirt bikes, cruisers, sport bikes, and now supermoto. I bought a WR250x last August. When the weather breaks, its f'n snowing right now....I want to go riding, anyone local here in CNY? Looking to go exploring for some trails -n- twisties. I've worked the night shift for the last 7 years and am finally going to days starting in May. So yeah I may need to become socialized again! Looking forward to meeting people and learning more about the sport. I know a couple good spots to go like the infamous 13 curves.

Getting ready to buy a wr250x

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum and mainly registered to asked a few questions. I'm getting ready to purchase a 2008 WR250X. It has 3000 miles, new Avon distanzias, an fisher custom gel seat, and a $450 Tom Tom motorcycle GPS included. The guy has it listed at $3800 and I was wondering if it is a good deal or not. Besides a few minor scuffs/scratches. He said they were there but I can't even see them in the pictures.

So my question is is it a good buy for the price? It books for right at $3600 stock and he is throwing in the GPS and brand new tires.

Thanks for the help guys.

I bought my 08 with around 5000 miles pretty much bone stock for 3200, talked him down from 3500. I thought that was a little high but acceptable. If the accessories/upgrades are ones you would have done anyway doesn't sound too bad. I think most of the time people don't consider the upgrades much when buying. Good luck, hope it works out for you!

CNY Newbie

Hi! My name is Eric Foote (Hence the user name lol), 19 years old from the Ithaca, NY area. Ive ridden motocross since 2nd grade, but unfortunately had to take a break from the sport due to my constantly dislocating shoulders and college attendance. So, my substitution is to get myself a motard :D. I bought myself a 2007 DRZ400SM off my brother. Its got the Yoshimura 1 into 2 pipes on it... rs-4 i think? Its got about 10200 miles and its basically stock other than the pipes. Im loving it so far and Ive got all my friends on crotch rockets jealous because they cant come close to keeping up with me on the twisty roads. I look forward to getting it all souped up and hopefully tearing up the streets with some fellow tarders!

Found this place while looking for what to do with my xr650l. Realized I don't have a that much time to pour into the bike before mynext trip to the sandbox, then noticed the classified ads. I'll keep lurking around here, soaking up what I can. Won't be asking to many questions, I'm not the first cherry to sign up here, but I do know a thing or two about search buttons and Google. Thanks guys

Getting the creative juices flowing :hello:

Hey guys. Sam Anderson here. I'm an engineer from the snowy Duluth Minnesota. Honestly I am much better at wrenching then I am at riding, but i'm working on it and I've got 3 bikes ....... so far :D

First off is my first bike, an '82 kz550LTD that I had started turning into a cafe/streetfighter a few years ago before deciding I wanted to see what it felt like to high side. Sadly, while I am still here with some minor scarring from road rash (wear your gear kids!!!), she is now in pieces in the shed waiting for another long winter to get put back together. This bike was about perfect for me at the time as I had about 45mins of highway time to get to school/work each day.

Since the KZ I have gotten married, moved to Duluth MN and picked up 2 more bikes that are better suited for the in town riding that I will be doing.

The first is a '78 Suzuki TS125 that I got from a friend so that I could get my wife into a project so i wouldn't get yelled at for being in the garage all the time :rolleyes2: Hopefully when all is said and done she will have a smaller "supermoto" of sorts to learn to ride on. That thing is really fun to put-put around on in town and wont be too juiced to learn throttle control with. Oh yeah, and it is relatively easy to get these things registered for road use in Duluth so it seemed like a good fit.

Now onto the real reason I joined. I have noticed a few Supermoto bikes in the area and they look like a lot of fun to ride. Seeing them has given me the itch to get back on a bike. A road legal Supermoto really seems like the best fit for the type of riding I will be doing on a regular basis. Long story short, I've started to scratch the itch. I went out and picked up an '03 WR450F that isn't falling apart but could really use some TLC. I'm going to be doing a SM conversion of sorts to. I've never ridden a newer 4 stroke dirt bike before getting this one but after taking it for a spin in the neighborhood I couldn't say no, what felt like 5 mins to me was actually about 25 mins of ripping around :D I've already started drooling thinking about it as I am typing this out  I really can't wait to get some wheels better suited for pavement on this thing!!!

So here I am, looking forward to bouncing a bunch of questions off of the community as I start building up this bad boy! I'm sure everyone has seen enough WR450F conversions but I may even start up a thread for the Wives TS125 when we get around to it.

New to riding. Supermoto first

Hey, my name is Chandler. Im 17 years old and currentley in cincinnati. Bought my first bike 2 months ago (klx250s) before that i had what i would say is minimal experiance. Decided to get into supermoto because you cant have as much fun on any bike as you can on supermotos. Im hoping to quickly turn my dual sport into a motard just trying to get all the parts together and figure out what i need to get. Any ideas or tips are welcome.

Picking up first supermoto next week

We'll I've spent most of my 38 years riding dirt bikes, quads, and crotch rockets so now the sm610 is next. Good things is I live 20 min from the dragon in east tn and the skyway so no lack of riding here. My only concern is I'm only 5' 6" so I mite need a stepping stool to stop/start hahaha. Anyway I've read good and bad about the husky I guess nobody likes everything but I'm excited to try the dirt/street bike combo in the sm it's always looked fun to me

New

Hello, I am Anthony, and I am new to the forum. I used to desert race Dirtbikes in high school and did a lot of Duning in my area. My weapon of choice was a YZ250F and a YFZ450 followed by a Suz LTR450. Unfortunately, due to active duty military service, I've had to get rid of all of my toys and am looking into building a sumo as a daily to from work bike. I am particular to the WR450F as I am very familiar with the layout of the Yamaha. Hopefully, (pending wife approval and funds), I'll be beginning a Sumo build sometime early spring.

Hello everyone. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself first. You can call me J or one wheel. 1200 is a good one 2. Lol. Anyway does anybody know or have some advice for me. I'm doing a RMZ 450 2007 front forks on a 2014 Dr 650 se thumper. The problem I'm having is that I bought some warp 9 wheels for the DR 650 application. Then some jerk cut me off and slammed the brakes on a tore my front end up. I've been reading your blogs like thumper talk and seeing everyone was going with the RMZ 450 forks. Now I'm having trouble with mounting the rim. Different axel and bearings I know but there isn't any application that I can find for the right Dimension bearings. Help!<br/>

Hey guys, my name is Des and I live in Brisbane, Australia. I recently just bought a drz400sm and love it. Before that I had a rmx250 and a rmz450. If I could have got the rmz registered I would have tarted that up but no chance in QLD so I sold it. The rmx needed more work than it was worth.

Anyway I'm digging the forum and the info available so Cheers fellas.

I currently have an 08 Yamaha wr250r/x (r model with x rims and wheels) That has the best, practical mods that makes the bike the way it should actually ride for sale. Comes with oem parts too. 4900 obo. Let me know if you're interested. I ride it as my commuter almost every day but I'm interested in another bigger bike to haul myself and my gf. It's in the classifieds on this site. Can't miss it. In on my phone but let me know if you need a link

Because I've switched jobs and I bought this with the intention of doing about 30miles, about 2/3 of that being highway, I commute about 10miles one way on the highway a day. There's about 6200 miles on the bike. I bought it in February and it had about 5400 on it then.
Whoops, wrong reply. Either way, the bike is great for highway. As long as you don't plan on going twenty over the speed limit the entire time. I wouldn't do that anyway.
