Enduro vs Super Moto

I am torn between these two style bikes. I dont know if a super motard can be used for how I want to ride and I dont know if the amount of offroading I want to do is worth sacraficing that on road capability of the sumo. Basically I need to know what supermotos are capable of as far as terrain and weather they are limited to stricly pavement or if they are more flexible. My riding will be about 50% pavement, about 50% dirt roads/ goat paths/ logging roads etc., and a little enduro but not much. What do you think I should get? Can a super moto be used for this style application if I were to put on a more aggressive treaded tire or should I just go with an enduro. Whichever style I decide on it will either be the new Aprilia or a KTM. Thanks for any help.:headscrat

i would do this...my Dad has a set of these tires on his XRV750...they work great on/off road

I dont even think the Aprilia RXV450/550 is road legal in the U.S, but im not sure

what kinda KTM were you looking at, Dave?

If I were you I would go with the KTM EXC line.
Its meant for enduro and with the wheels, tires, and brakes its a great road worthy SM. The SMR's are better track oriented bikes with the suspension and close ratio tranny but on the street neither bike can really be pushed to its potential so you won't come up short with the EXC.

I have the EXC and its perfect on the road. I also have the dirt setup that came on the bike and its a 1/2hr job to switch it all over for dirt use. Pretty much the best of both worlds.

Im pretty sure the Aprilia is good for all 50 states, saw it over in the Aprilia section. For KTM I was thinking a EXC-G 525 or a used SMR but now Im leaning toward the EXC because of the super motos being limited to pavement. Also someone mentioned that the Super motos are geared lower than Enduros for the track, I thought it would be the opposite being they are meant for the road and the Enduros are meant for the woods.

If your going to be on the track quite a bit then I would say a supermoto but if your primary is going to be street/trails then enduro without any hesitations.

Remember to that aprilia and husky are not really 'exotics', here in the states we just have a shitty dealer network for aprilia and husky.

I had a chance to get a really sweet 570 Vertimati (I think thats how its spelled) I just couldn't bring myself to get it when I knew it would be next to impossible to get parts..
