I've finally decided to join the "motard" ranks with a FS650 (the street legal one).
the dealer has brand new 2005s AND 2006s.
I figured i would get the 05 because its a few hundred dollars cheaper...i can get an 05 for 7 grand out the door, the 06 is about $7400.00
is there any reason to opt for the 2006 model over the 2005?
gremlins?
any advise appreciated.

if you are getting the 05 as a 650E rather than a c, it will make licensing it easier because you will already have the wiring harness, recitifier, etc..
...sidestand...
Come on, I HAD to ! :)
Actually, all kidding aside, the side stand is the only thing that can't be fixed easily with $200 and a parts book, so it's a legit problem for a true street rider. Oh, and the keyed ignition... :) I don't let mine out of my sight anyway, plus it has several levels of insurance policy from Kryptonite, State Farm, and Kimber... :arsenal
Personally, I like the 06 colors a LOT and everything I have to figure out with my "c" is just part of the adventure! Good choice on your new bike and welcome!

turn signals, brake light & mirrors won't hurt either.

You will not regret getting a Berg...it's the complete package....

You don't need turns and mirrors everywhere and they are easy and cheap to add anyway. Brake light is another non-issue: cheap and easy. Again, with the right harness (right from the parts book), the bike is already wired for all that stuff  Even better, it took me less than an hour to swap harnesses, going slowly and carefully
The harness, headlight, and regulator are the most expensive conversion parts at about $100, $100, and $60, respectively. Everything else you will need costs $20 or less... Here is a pic of khelton's side stand, though:

Not trying to argue with you, just want anyone considering the swap to know exactly what's involved: very little aside from the stand issue :D

I am going to keep posting pictures of tree trunks and milk crates until you update your avatar! ;)

If the 05 was a grand cheaper then maybe.........go for the 2006.....the 2005 is a year old already and If ya ever wanna sell the bike it will be more attractive to sell.....as it would be newer.....
