is all of that really required for just a Track day? i can understand all of that applying to a Race day but in the past for any track day i've done you didn't need to change the anti-freeze nor safety wire. it's been a couple of years since my last track day....maybe they've gotten a little more strick :headscrat

Bike Tech:
1- All bikes will be inspected and must pass tech, if you fail you have the opportunity to correct the issue. If you can not a refund will not be provided.

2- Tires and brakes must be in good condition with tires having at least 75% of tread. Tires with wear indicators showing will not be permitted on the track. Slicks are permitted as long as they are 90% condition.

3- All glass, headlight, turn signals, and plastic lenses must be taped over. Duct tape works greats for this; also brake lights must be turned off. Mirrors must be removed.

4- Wheel weights must be well-secured with duct tape.

5- License plates must be removed completely.

6- Advance group riders must use coolant that is none glycol based, products like Engine Ice, water wetter or plain water are acceptable.

Gear Requirements:
1- Damage free DOT or SNELL full-face helmet with face shield

2- Riding boots that fully cover the ankle

3- Gauntlet style gloves with full wrist coverage

4- One or two piece leathers. Two piece leather suits must zip together.

5- A hard back protector is recommended for the Intermediate and Advanced groups but not required.

In the past they have been very strict on this one thing because if someone springs a leak antifreeze is super slippery. Its just a good idea anyway to change over to water wetter, it actually runs cooler than antifreeze. It only takes 5 minutes and its safeer for the track.

Does this apply for Starke as well? For some reason I thought that was for major tracks like Jennings. I definately don't have 75% left.
:hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:
Thinking of which bank to rob before the 1st...:arsenal

Its a tight track, so you wont need anything to tall. I ran a 15-49 on my crf450 and used second thru 4th gears.

I am planning on being there on my 625 SMC, But having been ther before I know this beast is more than a handfull for such a tight track( I also had brake failure so my day was shot either way).
I'm wondering if ther is anyone who I could rent a mini motard, as it would be much better suited to that track, and I'd like to try the mini thing?. :headscrat .
BTW, I am a mature rider, with 30+ yrs experience on motorcycles, shifter karts, RRR, JGP, and over 20 trips to Deal's Gap(my favorite thing). I've highsided once( Honda VTR 1000-RRR) and lowsided once(625 SMC-JGP).

It looks like I'm not going to be able to make it up there. Mike (fizzer) have an awesome time on that new bike! I will be up in Gvill in mid august so I will be at starke and ocala whenver there is an event.

X, what kind of brake failure did you have? Almost ALL the miles I put on both my SMC's was on a kart track, and I never had any trouble until I put in the worthless glaze-prone EBC pads...

bmxr, Hi yuri, I was formerly "rbhart",(see today's intro). It started the day before @ JGP, after relpacing the m/c with a radial off a 525smc from Chip, and new ducati pads from the guy you got your replacement m/c from (can't remember name) and many efforts bleeding it wsa cured. I practically rebuilt and/ or replaced everything. What I learned is that you can't let the pads wear down as much as the manual says, cause when the pads get thinner the pistons are further out, eventually I believe that one of them gets a little cocked and doesn't retract, so when you pull the lever the next time it comes almost all the way back without any braking.

So, I think it's best to keep pretty new pads on it. I talked w/ a guy who had a Duke and a SMC at Deal's Gap a couple weeks ago who had the same problem/solution. I'm about to put the 3nd set on mine now. BTW, I did end up with a full AKRA by getting the headers from Munn and getting a used titanium muffler off e-bay fro $220 (Total around $750). It is the same 60mm tubing and was used on the first 3 generations of R1's/FZRT. its the same muffler just the end of it is sportbike style, maybe a couple inches longer,nd the sticker is on the inside.
That along with the KTM box on back adds to the "sleeper image".

I know this is a little late in the game, but I spoke to them today. They told me they weren't going to be very strict at tech, that they weren't expecting many to show up.
