I just changed to the KX 65 front end onto my KLX110 Mini Motard. (slight welding) so i have the better forks & disc brakes. Works incredible. Problem is now the Rim I spent crazy money on is useless!! Has anyone Done a Motard Front wheel setup for a KX-65? I used buchanon before because @ the time no one had done a KLX before - hopefully someone has set up a KX65 so i dont have to pay through the nose as I did before. Help! my bike looks silly w/ a rear motard tire & a front dirt tire!

If anyone wants some pics of the KLX110 / KX65 front end conversion let me know - it wasn't bad. just had to change the steering stem.

Bridgestone makes a 120/80 Hoop scooter 14" front that dosen't look half bad. Chen-Shin makes a 2.25" and 2.75" front also, although I suspect they don't work that well.

What are you gonna do with the 12" KLX front, I might be interested in taking it off your hands...........

PM me if you are interested.

did you weld up the dia on the stem? in a mag i read said there was all kinds of machine work needed to do(new trpl clamps and so on) if you used the kx65 tubes. in the article they ended up with the kx60 stuff. maybe you could desribe the welding that you did and i'll think about doing this instead.

all we had to do was add (roughtly) 1 inch to the stem itself. all the bearings & stuff went right together. DOesn't bind - i jump and everything with no problem.

Im doing another KLX conversion to the KX front end thsi weekend, i'll get some play by play pics & an exact measurement.

Where do I get the forks and brakes from a kx 65. Where are you getting your stuff. Are you buying it new?

hell no, all used. I found a guy local that was parting a KX65 - im buying the swing arm & rear disc brake off it next. New the price would be crazy.

best bet is fine someone that has a beaten to death KX65 , you'll make out better

I would like to pics of the play by play front end conversion please, also let me know what needs to be done to add a kx 65 swingarm to a drz110, I just bought a 2005 drz 110 for my 11yr old, and a friend of mine gave me a 2003 kx 65 with everything except motor. send to johnnymoto365@bellsouth.net

did the kx65 conversion and currently have a klx with a kx65 front.

front:
-I am using paxracing clamps. But other options include like how Jay is doing or supposely pressing out the klx stem and pressing it into the kx65 clamps. you will need to grind down the welds on the klx lower clamp.
-Since the kx65 uses a 28 hole rim back and front. you can take a stock kx65 rear rim and lace it to the front. that is what I did since I was putting a wide 2.15x12 on the kx65 rear. I can't remember but I believe I ordered spokes from bucahanans. you may be able to use the rear spokes also as the hubs look very similar and use the same brake rotor back and front.

Rear
-ended up selling my kx65 rear set-up with ohlins shock as it did not line up. the trouble and headaches in doing the kx65 rear is not worth it in my eyes but it is MHO. the swing arm which mounts to the frame needs to be widen and the klx frame needs a little grinding on the swingarm mounting points. also you will not be able to use the linkage unless you got mad fab skills. have seen it done before online but do not have specifics of who did it and how.
-to convert the kx65 swingarm and klx frame I paid over $300 plus bearings so about $330. the work was not good in my eyes and got pics online somewhere if anyone is interested. again don't bother.
-instead take the kx65 rear wheel and brake set-up and mount it to a aftermarket klx swingarm like bbr or two bros. that way you have a rear disk. crappy thing with a kx65 rear is the smallest sprocket is a 39 so you got to go 15 front if you wish to motard the klx.

Have a 2.15x12 on the front and back of mine... KX65 front end. If I remember correctly...... I had to buy a spoke kit for a rear wheel. Just a stock kx/rm65 rear wheel spoke kit and buy a 2.15x12 and you have your swap.
