Good golly, hot damn...please pass the sun screen!!! Not only was the sun hot, but the racing action was SMOKIN'!!! I will make Copper Mountain an annual event on my calender, it was just that much fun! The weather was great and the surroundings were picture perfect.

I decided about 6 days before the race to go up and take the weekend in. Maybe one of the best decisions of my life. We literally were at the track by 8:00 both saturday and sunday to watch the races and assist a couple of our local riders who went to race. (Curtis & Chris Cooksey) No matter what time we went to bed, or what took place the night before, we were dedicated to the mission....SUPERMOTO!!

From most accounts of the racers that I spoke to, the course was pretty fun. There was one substantially dangerous aspect of the course that none of the riders seemed to think was logical. There was a "Urban Cross" metal table top with a steep face AT THE END OF A 70MPH STRAIGHT!!! The riders had to scrub off speed down to about 20 MPH, or they would overjump it. I saw about 6 rider's weekend ruined there. I can not explain how gnarly it is to see someone WAY OVERCLEAR a jump and flat land on asphalt from 15 feet in the air! There were lots of damaged wheels this weekend. Gary "Silent H" Trachy was unfortunate on saturday. He got a hay bail cover stuck in his breaks, which caused his rear break to fail at the face of the table top. Very ugly crash...Gary was very lucky that he didn't get REALLY hurt. His back wheel was substantially taco'd though, and he was really banged up. This guy is tough as nails though, and was back for more on sunday. Gary has the heart of a lion, and the dedication of a champion. He could barely walk on sunday, but didn't whine a bit. He soldiered on, and he and Greg (Gary's brother) put in great rides.

Henry and Ward were awesome! The Euro's were fun to watch also, but very happy about the Americans winning. There are several guys that have really picked up the pace since last year. It is going to be a great season to watch for sure!

I am not sure what the hell was up with Burkhart's bikes, but he was getting massively pulled on the straights. But worse than that, his chain came off in the heat race, which caused him to have to run in the LCQ and have a crappy grid position! How the hell can you not put a chain guide on a supermoto bike??? I saw the chain come off as he landed the table top jump...he was lucky not to be hurt!Burkhart is super talented, and unfortunately on inferior equipment. Hopefully Yamaha will mount an effort to assist this guy, he deserves it!

Scott Hoffman, (Supermoto Racer Magazine) got to ride a Husaberg on Sunday, and did a damn fine job for riding that bike for the first time on a track that he had never been on! Good job Scott

Metzger... NO FOOTED CAN CANS over the table top on the cool down laps and in practice. Phenomenal athlete, and one of the crowd favorites! He put in great rides both days.

Burned, it was really nice to meet you. What a great weekend!
