Yes. The lower guides bolt to the front of the fork brace.

I can buy a used brace and guards for 100.00.Just do not think I want the brace.

Why don't you want the brace? I found it greatly improves the stability of the front end. For SM use the biggest difference is in steering and tracking precision. It's stable in high speed sweepers where without it it would tend to not want to hold a line consistently. The brace also comes with a set of "pre" dust seals that go over the tops of the lower legs. Those help protect your fork seals.

I guess I just see no need for it.The bikes handles great like it is.I cannot keep footpegs on it now.So to me it just can't get much better. :headscrat But I might give it a try.
You must get up early ,it is only around 7 here on the east coast.

After you try a bike with the brace you'll be kicking yourself for not getting one sooner.

And yes, I get up real early every day, like 3AM or so.

well worth it to buy the brace. i've seen pictures of scott summers turning the bars w/o the brace on an xr and the wheel is no where near where the bars are pointed. the faster you get the more you will appreciate the extra stiffness. it will stop your bike from feeling mushy in corners.

I just installed a SRC Brace a couple of days ago. Here's a pic. Bike is still being put together. Can't wait to try it for the first time.
