Hello all,

I've been trying to track down what is going on with the 2005 SM610S. Some pictures were floating around, see http://www.bikepics.com/members/omerta69/05sm610s/ .

At www.husqvarnausa.com they only show the 450, 510, and 630 all of which, according to my Husky dealer, are non street legal models.

Last night I found a UK Husky site that shows the same pictures as bikepics and says the bike is available in May 05.

Today my dealer confirmed there will be 05 SM610S bikes (also the 610 dual sport) and they are street legal in CA. He had the MSRP at $6695 I believe and availability in March/April. No pictures, but he did know it wasn't the black/chrome SM610S of previous years.

So like any rational motorcyclist, I negotiated a price and put down my deposit to get the first one that shows up. Woo hoo! :)

Now ... how to make it until March/April ...

Also, I hope the model coming to the US really is the bike shown at the bikepics website.

Can someone post a pic of the 2000/2001 SM610S and the 610R ?
I'm curious to see visually what the difference in them is.

The 2000 610SMS would be a better compro to the the 05 SMS. Both have electric start an engine counter balancer, and a real oil filter.

The 2000 610SMR was a race only version, of which, at least in 2000, only 6 had been imported into the states. It's kick start only, has no engine counter balancer, and only a tiny oil screen.

Ok, I'm confused again. The press kit mentions a SM 610, a SM 610R, and a SM 610 S and the spec's are all mixed up. One place it talks about the "new" bike and calls it a SM610R, then starts talking about just "SM 610" (I'll assume same bike, just leaving off the "R") ... then the other files are "SM610" and "SM610S", but the specs on the "S" start to match the "SM 610" from the other file. Who knows!? Certainly not Husqvarna.

My Husky dealer tells me there is only one type of SM 610 coming to the US in 05 (and he called it a 610 SMC), and that it is not available until March/April ... I'm really hoping this is the new grey one that is on some non-Husky websites. At least I have 4-5 months to figure this out!

So is that flat black looking one any different from the 630 and 510 and 450?
